Reads more like a stab in the dark (or at least the gloom) from EJ.

Does anyone know why McLaren will having to pay for the motors, as they are still McLaren Mercedes?

I just don't see why he would go there. I know McLaren have cost him a lot of points this season and probably the championship lead but it just doesn't seem a logical move.

It just doesn't seem a good move for either side really (Lewis or McLaren).

Maybe he's fed up of the increasing mistakes from McLaren. They've cost him a lot.

Just saw that headline pop up too.

Cant be a great move for him can it?

It would leave Jenson as the main man at Mclaren and someone like Di Resta would be a good bet as a team mate.

Who is Jaime Algesuari tied to (teamwise)... His increased knowledge of the tyre testing might be a handy asset for a team!?

Dont know whats happening with Lewis, but this doesnt feel like a good move to my mind...

It's quite a speculative article putting 2 and 2 together and getting anything between 5 and 7 it seems. I think "wait and see" is still the default position.

I believe Mercedes owned a chunk of McLaren a few years back, but sold it off to the middle east when McLaren wanted to do road cars.

Indeed, it was only a few days ago it was reported that Lewis and McLaren had pretty much agreed a deal and that they were just finalising PR stuff.

Seems bloody unlikely, he'd have to be incredibly unhappy in the team to move to Mercedes. Would all but confirm Schumi's retirement too.

I'd like to see Ross and Lewis working together.

I think it would be a good combination.

EJ can get away with talking some crap when there is DC around to tell him hes wrong, but putting his rubbish up as a headline is madness. I'd be very surprised to see this happen. Basing it on the fact Hamiltons management has spoken to merc is stupid, i bet his management have stuck thier head into every top half of the grid teams motorhome at some point.

Decent bit of barganing power to squeeze mclaren for more cash, but no more than that. It hurts the BBC's credibility a fair bit to use Eddie's off the wall opinions and put serious articles up about them as if its a done deal.

I'll believe it when I see it.

Most of EJ's "inside" knowledge appears to be him sticking his finger in the air and claiming he knows everything when he guesses something correctly.

Hamilton would be mental to move to Mercedes but, given some of his actions recently, he doesn't seem to exactly have his head screwed on at present.

I also said Button would be mental to move to Mclaren from Brawn and look how right I was there!

Lewis concerns me at present. Where is the racer from 2007 who was enjoying it so much and driving so freely? It seems like he's always got other things on his mind....

Personally I don't see Hamilton staying at McLaren. Mercedes could be a good option for him, as would Ferrari. I can't see any other cars fighting for wins next year. Maybe Lotus, but they will want to keep their current drivers.

Has Schumacher ever said it would be Mercedes and nothing else? I know he said something along those lines when he was still a Ferrari driver. I would quite like to see him in Hamiltons seat...
