However the source for their story is the Daily Mail! Enough said. I think I read that Schumi is on a salary of about half they are claiming.

One odd thing with this whole story is that Schumacher has been so so tight lipped on his future and then he supposedly blabs his biggest secret to someone known for announcing things .

On reflection I think the whole story has been created by Button. After all the news and speculation along with the tweet saga, and the death of his aunt will continue to unsettle Hamilton giving Button a chance to beat him!

Or maybe not......

Hamilton is seen as God's gift to F1. He is very good, but.....

With McLaren behind him, only 1 championship so far and that was only just - 1 point?

Button, Alonso, Vettel, Kimi, Schumacher all at least equally good & all world champions. The new order - Grosjean, Perez, Paul di Resta, Kubica have a lot more to offer. Massa was almost as succesful as him, once.

A lot of fuss about Hamilton very often. getmecoat

Despite the tongue in cheek snipe at EJ, I think this story has mileage. Lulu chose to be managed by 19, whose business model seeks to extract maximum brand value from the individuals it represents. If Mercedes are the biggest payer and it fits their own brand objectives then its a done deal. He wants to be a brand and whatever deal he signs will have that as the end game, with race wins and championships as the secondary goal. The best fit was RB but that's obviously not happening, so Mercedes are the next on the Fuller hit list.
Yea, but to be a "brand" you have to have people buy into it. Brand Hamilton underpants. No thanks.

The ego is not worth £60m over 3yrs (whether the red-top / leprechaun rumors are true or not).

Merc need technical drivers who can help develop the car. Lewis is interested in the money, glitz & PR, not the car or team. Not a good fit.

Despite supporting him for over 15yrs, he's caused McLaren a lot of grief... they should help him pack his bags and wave goodbye to him. Ideally, McL should sign up a driver like Kimi (not sure of his Lotus contract) and Merc should re-sign their current pairing. Lewis can then go and whistle for a place in the mid-field.

I'm am utterly sick of the Hamilton-toy throwing-music & rapper-showbiz razzamatazz and would laugh my socks off if he left himself without a front running drive after all this hype.

Do people really think Kimi is a better fit? He has done his flouncing, remember. As a team boss, I'm not sure I would want someone who is liable to just get bored and bugger off in my team.

I think McLaren would want him back but it would depend whether Kimi would want to. He has done a very good job this season in my opinion.

Sorry, while he was good, I don't think he'll ever get a drive in an F1 car again, aside from the 'can you drive an F1 car?' test at some point in the future.

This. I'm glad I'm not alone in wanting Hamilton and his 'crew' to disband the pits and find somewhere else to setup shop. It's really quite boring now. I'd be quite glad to see stslinger gone from the pits too.

McLaren should just sign Jaime Alguersuari now and leave Lewis to do his own thing. yes
I agree, being in Jaime as the new number 1 driver with jenson as his backup as number 2, will make an awesome midtable pairing.

What, the same double world chamion that was outdriven by a rookie in his first season in f1!? rofl

It's a damn shame as it was Mclarens only chance of winning a drivers world championships in the hear future, and they seem to have let it slip.

And no, button can't fill the role, he made hard enough work winning the one championship his won, in a car that was BY FAR the quickest on track, with his closest competition being his fellow team mate that was working out his pension fund during most part of the season.

It's fair to say McLown's have made tits of themselves yet again.

This is just brinkmanship / contract negotiations from Lewis. He will stay at maclaren. This is all about money.

Harsh against Rubens. I'm not his biggest fan by a long shot, but I respect his achievements in Indyacr this year. He's excelled. I wouldn't be eyeing a return to F1 either if I was him, he must fancy his chances of a title in that discipline if he gets a better drive.

Agree. He's no Senna yet, and it's well known how hard he was to deal with, and the constant media fallout that came with him vs the world. The temptation must be to back Lewis into a corner when all the other seats are filled and say 'sign this, or find another drive'.

He's making it hard work for all involved, and there's plenty of drivers who would love his seat and not cause them the agro.

What? Lewis? Who was out scored for the first time in a championship by someone who "made hard enough work winning the one championship his won, in a car that was BY FAR the quickest on track, with his closest competition being his fellow team mate that was working out his pension fund during most part of the season".
