I agree, it was hijacked by the BREAKING NEWS of "Lewis TwitterGate" by the usual suspects.

Wanta996, do you really think Hamilton is looking good right now? Please ignore comparisons to others and just judge the situation on its own merit. Yes or no?
Let me get this right - you seriously think that anyone really gives a toss about that tweet that Lewis sent out? Its says allot about yourself and others that this is even worthy of discussion here.

Do i think he is looking good to challenge Vettel for the title? Yes,i do.

Do i think that this tweet is making him look good right now? Who gives a toss - Do you??
I don't care about a tweet but would rather not see F1 drivers carrying on like teenage girls.

Interesting then that you simply avoid answering the question by saying you don't give a toss. Many normal people care how sporting figures conduct themselves outwith their performance in the sport. I wouldn't even try to deny that Hamilton is one of the best drivers in F1, but I think tweets such as these, give an I sight into a driver's mentality, which of course plays a role in their effectiveness. IMO Hamilton should have been more successful than he's been to date, and I'd like to know what's distracted him.

So once again, do you think he looks good right now?

Excellent. I'm surprised that anyone would see his behaviour as anything other than childish/petulant but if you want a driver to send baby-tweets and carry on like a child, you've found your man!

To quote you earlier
wanna said:
"Its says just as much about Button as it does Lewis IMO that Button would not follow his own team mate. I find that odd to be honest."
No it's not 'beating him up', it's just a colloquial saying meaning 'to criticise' - something you are perfectly aware of.

Good advice for Hamilton would be to spend much less time tweetering. Poncing about on social media must be a big negative distraction away from the real focus of his employment with team Mclaren. Trouble is, over all his seasons with Team Mclaren, I suspect many have given sound advice but, much of it goes in one ear and out the other.

Had it been taken and stayed on board, his results for all those seasons with McLaren would read much more impressively.

Unless he really does believe all the hype and kidding himself with it, deep down within the man's thoughts he must surely be aware that given all the circumstances, he has seriously failed to deliver more often than not. If he does realise that, then next season at the current "also ran" team Mercedes, he has a fine opportunity to show just how good and consistent he really can be.

I for one hope he succeeds and does not blow yet another superb opportunity. It's simply a matter of time before Mercedes cast off their current upper mid-field "also ran" status.

Yes, just a matter of time and there's a real possibility that next season will be even more interesting than this one has so far been. Something to really look forward to.

We will agree to disagree. Not sure were i have said that i want drivers to send out baby tweets and behave like a child. Care to explain what you mean? Please dont tell me that you have phscho-analyzed Lewis by him sending this one tweet and equated it to him being childish and petulant and the reason why he has not won more WDC's.

I could tell you a story about a 2xWDC driver that once burst into the Directors office and threatened to get him into serious st if he didnt get his way against his team mate?? Now that would be serious and a true sign of childish petulant behaviour

This tweet? Who gives a toss.

You could tell us but it would be irrelevant as we're talking about Hamilton.

Fair enough if you think he's conducting himself well off-track. I definitely don't agree and don't know anyone who does but it's only opinion.

I think given everything his life consists of, it's hard to make a decision one way or the other, he certainly doesn't come across as malicious, he's certainly not dull or impolite, he is talented, well respected, and has made mistakes both in terms of on track antics and off track judgement calls...

I'm quite glad he comes across as imperfect and human. Sometimes annoying, sometimes childish, sometimes funny, sometimes insightful, damn near always entertaining...and highly skilled..and dedicated...

Evidently you. If not, why are you still here, and still going on about it?
I am on this thread because i thought it was about Lewis going to Mercedes. The usual suspects that hijacked it with Lewis's twitter post are the ones that keep going on about it. If someone directs a message to me then i will do my best to address it. Surely thats good manners is it not.

Interesting points Agoogy, and I know what you mean - a bit of character is a good thing, even if it can mean making the wrong decisions at times. That said, maybe it's just Hamilton that grates on me. I suspect it's the fact that he uses things like Twitter to deal with what ought to be an issue dealt with face to face and that sort of public airing of dirty laundry just reminds me of young girls on Facebook who gum the place up with stuff like "Nice to know who you can really count on - feel so betrayed right now!!!111!!!!" and nonsense of that nature.

He seems (to my eyes) to have not matured much since his time in F1 began. From his behaviour, I think I still imagine him as being about 21 and that annoys me as he's a damn good driver who ought to be behaving more like a man.

Anyway, personal opinions are just that so like/not like is ultimately irrelevant but all I was trying to say is that it seems to be that his gaffes are beginning to speak louder than his driving, and that's a pity.

I hope Mercedes is something of a fresh start for him at any rate.

I think the tweeting of telemetry and mistaken thoughts about Jenson 'unfollowing' are relevant to the debate.

I think Lewis is the most naturally talented F1 driver. But these snippets of his life that seem more 'X-Factor' than F1 mean 1) he is either really bright and knows how to get 'brand Hamilton' in the tabloids, or 2) He is not really very focused at all.

Your argument falls down because his driving has been the best its been since 2008 this year. 3 non fault DNFs and a puncture on his first lap along with pit crew f-Ups/Gearbox Penalty/under fueling at Spain was it?? are the only reasons why he is not right up there with Alonso.

His driving(the main thing) has been the best its been for years. I feel some posters are just looking for issues & problems that are not there. Using an example of a tweet is laughable and your line about his gaffes speaking louder than his driving are complete nonsense.

Take a deep breath and look back at this season and his actual driving and qualifying performances(7 Poles).
