Awesome to see him back Driving, surely there is a lot more physical movement with a WRC car compared to driving in F1 where the arm hardly moves at all, sure it would be easier. either way it would be epic to see him back in F1 just to see how he goes.

There is more than one way to drive a racing car.
Surely with the state of technology Kubica could have adaptions to his F1 car so he could successfully race? There are a lot of disabled drivers with adapted cars.
Under UK law employers and organisations are required to make "reasonable adjustments" to meet the needs of disabled people. This could mean technical adaptions by a formula one team and rule book adjustments by FIA so RK could return to grand prix racing.
can't see it with the dexterity and control you need on the steering wheel of an F1 car. i think his future is in WRC, but i don't think he'll be too unhappy with that - Kubi said that rally drivers were proper drivers wink

If even he doesn't think that he will ever again be as fit as he was then I fear there isn't even a prayer that we will see him in F1 again. Really glad to hear of him on the mend though, and reckon that he should take a look at the WEC and LeMans rather than just rallying.

Also in a LHD rally car he must be working the gearshift and handbrake with his right hand so the disability isn't that bad.
I believe he had an issue changing gear on the Fiesta WRC test recently, although still quicker than J-ML round the circuit. I also suspect that the gear shift lever on the Impreza may have been swapped over to a different side of the steering wheel.

I wish him all the best and hope that he makes an entry in rallying full time and forgets about circuit racing.

"He thus missed the entire 2011 F1 season and, as a result, is out of contract with his former Lotus-Renault team (who apparently now have little contact with him)."

Any chance of expanding on this? Pre-accident, Kubica was really going places, so would his former team not have some interest in trying to rehabilitate him sooner rather than later? Or were they angry with him for sustaining the injury in non-F1 circumstances?
He was buggering around with another team, and hinting at a return with somebody else (Ferrari?) IIRC.

At the time, Renault were trying to help with rehabilitation, but it seems he wanted a stronger team. Only from what I read - obviously you never know what's going on behind the scenes.

I wouldn't trust boullier as far as I could throw the fat idiot - they way he's dealt with drivers has been very poor.

yep, on the particular Impreza WRC he drove the lever was swapped to the left side. The lever for handbrake was at it's place however since the HB is hydraulically operated there might have been something else fitted to the car that would allow him to operate it differently. His right arm is definitely a long way from recovered, no wonder, he nearly lost it. If he comes back it will be a miracle I think. Let's hope miracles still happen
