And when you pronounce Bathurst it's not Bath-urst like Clarkson pronounces it > if you get it wrong no one will know what you are talking about > :-)
how do you pronounce it?
Bath-hurst and drag the a out a tiny bit.
You say "bath" the way a scouser would, then immediately stick an "urst" on the end.

Mate, you'll love it. This year's race is the 50th anniversary and should be epic. Lots of old cars doing parade laps, classic muscle cars going door-to-door, Porsche Cup, Ute racing, V8 Supercar junior series (same machines, just a couple of years old), a ALMS Porsche RS Spyder demo run and more.

Make sure you catch a bus up to the top of the mountain and check out the fast corners at the top of the hill - a lot of people don't bother leaving the more comfortable bottom end of the track, but the difference top to bottom is like comparing the Nurburgring GP track to the Nordschliefe.

Last year's race ran for just under six and a half hours and the gap from first to second was 0.29 seconds. Here are the last couple of laps if you want a look: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VpHHp7crY-c

How right you are! Not just the racing, the coverage is excellent as well!

I went in 2001 when I was travelling around Oz, bloody fantastic and one of my top 5 races I have ever attended! I stayed at the YHA at the blue mountains and then drove down. Don't remember it taking that long to get there and drove right In no problem.....was 10 years ago though!

Very disappointed that MotorsTV aren't showing it live, I was looking forward to switching between Bathurst and the Japanese GP!

Let's hope the ending is as exciting as it was last year.....Bathurst just keeps delivering, year after year!

Exactly.

Brilliant coverage, occasionally humorous but technically excellent camera placement (cabin cam, footwell cam, suspension cam, propshaft cam!) enthusiastic knowledgable commentary from ex V8 drivers - Skaifey's know how, effervescence and predictable "One of the best corners in Australian motorsport" line.

Pitlane tech guy Mark Larkham is interesting, funny, forthright and clear with his 'whiteboard' explanations and he's great at sticking microphones right into the heart of the action, be it drivers or team bosses, he gets away with it all and everyone seems to like him. Great guy.

Check out last years build up - Russell Crowe's 2011 narration is pure Bathurst gold.

Larko was a pretty decent steerer in his own right and was a popular driver, so an ideal guy to have in the pits.

Two ways to do it legally but I'm 99% sure they are geo-locked and they are only broadcasting from the in-car cameras with alternative commentators.[I might be wrong about the in-car camera broadcast]

http://www.v8supercars.com.au/ > sign up on the right hand side where it says My V8 Supercars. It takes you to live timing and streaming.

http://www.bigpondsport.com/Home/EPGChannelGuide/t... > this channel will broadcast over the weekend as above.

Up to you to work out the geo-locking and if the alternate broadcast is on you might lose interest.

Justin is your friend.

Google is your friend.

Edit to add separate live timing section >

Yes but as I said I think it's geo-locked and I think it will be the alternative internet broadcast which is from the in-car cameras only > no outside cameras > and a different set of commentators.

Well that's what they have been doing for the last couple of meetings.

I'm very sorry, but for contractual reasons we will not be showing Bathurst LIVE this year, we will only be showing a 2 hours highlight show.

Not happy furious

Look forward to watching this all year.

Finish work early
Dash home via the local Take Away to purchase excessive amounts of food (can always be eaten cold for lunch and tea if needed)
Power on the big TV and sound system
and not move till the race is over.

Have to hope there is a dodgy internet feed.
Aagh!! Not happy at all. Was really looking forward to this. The last few years on MotorsTV have been fantastic - what an event!!
Following on from bloody ESPN not showing the DTM live, but delayed at 01:45 this morning.....not best pleased.

Would love to see Aussie V8, Super GT both live on MotorsTV, Eurosport or some other station..... WTCC/ BTCC are quite feeble by comparison.

Not happy with this. I've been watching it every year since Motors started showing it. Maybe they should stop showing so much crappy moto-x and Euro Nascar, break the bank and buy the proper rights!

I'm sure the V8 site still works over here. I tried it at the Adelaide rounds with an Aussie postcode and it worked. I Googled for an address in Sydney and I think it was the address of the Adidas store or something that I used to register!

Well its building for the weekend here! tickets arrived no problem, renewed my confidence in ebay i can say, even got paddock access.
Planning on setting off for the mountain track early sunday morning as i am only going for the race itself. Will try and keep you posted on what i find, sounds like a Aussie Le Mans style event
