Michael Schumacher comment: "Black gold"

In the current (Oct 2012) issue of F1 Racing magazine, there's an interview with Schumacher. Asked whether anything in F1 today irritates him, he replies "Black gold. Think about it."

OK, I know I'm being totally thick here, but I have thought about it and I don't know what he's referring to: could it be something to do with Lotus, or oil (sometimes referred to as black gold), or even Lewis? But why would any of those irritate him?

Anybody got any ideas?

Is he not on about tyres?

I believe he's been quite vocal about them before now.

Oil is the most obvious meaning in general terms. However in relation to F1 I can't see what about oil would irritate him. Tyres is probably the best answer, as already said he has been vocal about them.

Tyres i'd wager. Basically in his reign he designed the tyres and made sure they suited him....last two seasons hes not had the advantages he enjoyed previously.
Dont get me wrong the bloke is a legend, but we will never see someone win 7 titles again cause its dare i say it, fairer now.

The Middle East was my first thought aswell. Oil wealth bringing those countries into play with some naff tracks and no desire to go there. Or Petronas...who spnsor Merc...who are an oil mob arent they?

If he meant tyres, dont know why he didnt just say so like he has done already!!

Like who exactly? Did button not make a snide comment about him not having the best car anymore when questioned about how Sh#t he was last year??? I would also think Lewis,Rosberg,Vettel etc are as suprised as we all are about how............average he actually is.

What hope for everyone else. While Schui's reign made F1 a little dull, that is one of the most bizarre quotes. Love him or loath him, the guy IS the Guinness book or records for F1.
