With you on the argument thing, but thing is none of us know what was in the proposed and signed contracts. Who is to say that McLaren didn't write an exception to the "rule" (wherever that is written) in the offered contract ? They seemed to think he was re-signing right until the last minute.
Lewis himself said there was nothing McLaren could of done to keep him, I don't think he's lying.
Just because the media report their guesswork as facts doesn't mean it is so, there isn't a shred of evidence that Lewis wants to plaster his name over clothes, aftershaves etc.
Meanwhile, if you want to see a driver creating a "brand" look no further than Kimi.
Well written balanced response, I do believe though that McLaren themselves have stated their stand on issue & sponsor rights. I'm happy to leave it at the fact that you are correct in saying that none of us know the exact details of the individual offers made by both teams.Lewis himself said there was nothing McLaren could of done to keep him, I don't think he's lying.

(I am right though...)

Exactly; so it isn't a stupid comment. It's how I see it or think what he is going for. Lewis himself said there was nothing McLaren could of done to keep him, I don't think he's lying.

Shocking result for Mclaren and as has already been said, Im worrying already for next year.
Just to throw another conspiracy theory into the ring... Anyone else think that Red Bull have been sad bagging (under instruction) so as to liven up the title until it reaches the point whereby with the odd failure they might lose out.
That car has just transformed if its under normal development, and why havent the other teams been able to follow suit (regardless of the Newey effect).
Im afraid Im not a Red Bull fan, I cant bring myself to like Horner, and depite vettel keeping his fingers in check today pretty much - Im not a fan of his either - its all about the car (just imo before anyone gets too excited).
Anyway - I foresee a complete whitewash again from here on in, with Alonso looking back on the bad fortune of some kamakazi driving from others leaving the door wide open for Red Bull to sweep up the pieces.
Perhaps its my disappointment of Mclarens poor showing, but this season end has lost a lot of appeal for me - shame, could have been a 4 or 5 way fight right the way to Brazil.
(Its probably worth expressing my mild disappointment for Massa too, he was clearly faster than Alonso and could have gone and stalked Webber on behalf of the team... Very short sighted approach in my opinion just having him as a gimp for their main man).

That chav Vettel couldn't resist it could he. He had to do the finger thing. Vulgar triumphalism. Yuk!
I really don't see why everyone has to get all upset because he does the 'number 1' thing. Ironically, he has the number 1 on his car, and looks like he will next year, as well as coming number 1 in the race. Is it really that big a deal? Grant76 said:

Not a chance. Would never happen.
No, this rear wing thing is new. It's what makes their qualifying performance so good and means they can run more wing than everyone else for the race. Not a chance. Would never happen.
What an uninteresting race. OK, so the Red Bulls flitted away much as most expected and in the 'right' order. I was hoping for more midfield action with Button mixing it with the two Mercedes just in front of him. For a few seconds after the start Button looked good already in front or at least alongside the two Mercedes ~ then along came Kobayashi in Bonzai mode... to reduce the interest still further.
There have been some very interesting and entertaining races this season. Sadly, today's was not one of them. A forgettable non-event :~
Still, Lewis can tease the guy he will replace next season:~

D'you think we shoudl start a thread about Hamilton's move to Mercedes?
Might as well. He is racing like he is practicing driving one for next year anyway.Hamilton was racing for 3rd position with alonso until just after his first stop when his car failed. After that you could visibly see there was a problem with his car, even on the straights. He did some great racing with Kimi, hulkenberg and grosjean (???) and then after his final stop closed down the torro rossos despite a rather ill handling car.
The result for LH today was not good but there is nothing to question about LH's performance IMO.

A carefully cultivated miniature tree?A much safer pastime than any "iffy" track moves putting folks deep in the Khazi.
