Do you think the car has been that good? I'm not sure it was. There are pretty much where they are constructor wise. They have had a few problems strategy wise, and recently some reliability issues, but the car hasn't really been outstanding at any point.
I don't think it's bee that dominant this season, that honour has moved between teams. I do think they're done badly purely on operational and reliability issues. Probably worse than their main competitors even taking SVs alternator issues.

It's been a massively disappointing season as a fan of the team and both their drivers.

[quote=MGJohn]What an uninteresting race. OK, so the Red Bulls flitted away much as most expected and in the 'right' order. I was hoping for more midfield action with Button mixing it with the two Mercedes just in front of him. For a few seconds after the start Button looked good already in front or at least alongside the two Mercedes ~ then along came Kobayashi in Bonzai mode... to reduce the interest still further.

There have been some very interesting and entertaining races this season. Sadly, today's was not one of them. A forgettable non-event :~

Kobayashi ruined the race today. Deserved a harsher penalty too.

The yellow flags were frustrating. The first few laps, before the cars start getting strung out and they were waving in the main overtaking point. By the time they finally removed the Mercedes and brought in the Yellows, it was too late. frown

Most boring race of 2012?

God I'm glad I TIVO'd it, the fast forward button was a godsend.

Definitely up there, Hulk's move being the standout moment. I pretty much lost all interest as soon as Jenson was Kobi'd out of the race.

I really hope Ferrari can bring the fight back to Red Bull.

I'm glad I didn't wake up early for this one, fairly dull all in all. The Korean grid girls never fail to impress though.

I see Vettel making it three WDC in a row now.

How / why didn't they throw a safety car for Rosberg car and then even more strangely why they let the astro turf get ripped up and get dragged on to the circuit?

I know Nascar/Indy will throw a caution for a crisp packet but that was seriously dangerous ?!

There were a few good bits of wheel-to-wheel racing but not enough to stop it being fairly tedious. Shame as it's an awesome track in many respects.

Mid-Late season school report ... 4/10 for Mercedes and Mclaren ... could do better ~ they have the kit, drivers, resources and brains but, must try harder.

Still, Lewis can tease the guy he will replace next season:~

In fact great drive from Lewis(considering broken anti-roll bar), one could see at the same time how precisely and aggressively he drove wrack of the car. Three mechanical failures in the last three races, maybe better he goes to Mercedes than. He also squeezed that 3rd starting place for Mclaren.

Ah well, could have been worse.

Some impressive wheel to wheel racing and I must say some fantastic giving of just enough room to drivers as well.

Agreed, the Lewis and Kimi stuff was brilliant. Gave each other enough room and was great to watch.

Did anyone notice some LG advertising on the race track, I think it was at the end of either of the start/finish or the really long stright? How was this done?

Yes AFAIK it's done by knowing the position of the camera and then just overlaying the graphic, scaling it as required.

But maybe it can be done using image recognition algotirthnms these days now that digital and computing power is prolific.

The technology has been around for a long time and the first time I remember it used to cover large swathes of crowd at sporting matches with advertisements but it wasn't very popular as it was perceived as intrusive.

They also used it on the formation lap to display the drivers' names on the road next to their grid position.

I too was quite happy after watching Buttons start, he certainly had good pace in P2 so I think a solid result was on the cards. A bit of inexperience being shown by both Sauber drivers early on. Still rate both of them highly.

Your comment about Hamilton is a bit petty. He had a broken ARB and drove pretty damn well. The car looked like it was going to jump off the track!

I enjoyed the race, there was some good battles throughout. None at the front I guess, but overall, a decent race. It's still quite tight in the championship, anything can happen. Just ask Jenson!

!
Inexperience? That would be a debatable comment on Perez but Kobyashi has 55 or so races behind him. How many do you need to do to be called experienced?
