If I were JB it's a no brainer, start on the primes and wait for the others to stop.

They are predicting a 1 stop race, so prime, then option (with a lighter fuel load).
1 stop? Well, that really leaves little option but to go on primes, go as long as you can, and then blast it on the options.
Ah, but this is McLaren, remember.

He'll be four-stopping. Option, used option, completely fked option, prime. hehe

Would not surprise me.which race was it where JB was on for a podium, and they brought him in for no apparent reason to do a 3 stopper?

by the looks of it, the option tyre is almost good for nothing, so the less time you run it the better.

not sure what options the front-runners have, as they have to start on it, so I guess we are looking at early 1st stops, but then can the prime last 3/4 the distance?

Hungary this year.

It'll be interesting to see LH with a decent strategist & informative race engineer over the next three years and if JB will jump ship to Merc in 2014.
That was the bugger. Even the worms in my gut thought it was stupid at the time. Still no idea why they did it. The thing is that makes situations where McLaren look good for a decent result a bit dubious, in case they start 'experimenting'.

At what other tracks did they use the soft/super soft? And what was the form for the races?

Could this be an indicator?

I was expecting Red Bull to be much quicker in qualifying with the double drs so i am pleasantly surprised at how close Hamilton and Alonso were. Hopefully Alonso and Hamilton get good starts and can make Vettel/Webber work for their victory, hopefully it should be close.

Well, that's the big question. Pirelli think two stops with the possibility for one if you are kind on the tyres; their discussion of it is actually pretty good.

Looking back to yesterday they say the longest runs were 13 laps, both for prime and option. Whether that has any bearing on wear or degradation I don't know.

Having watched a recording of the Sky qually coverage, I never thought I'd see the day when DI Blundell was on our screens again. hehe

That's what I would do. Lets send our CVs into Mclaren HQ. Gis a job and all that. We're prime strategists and management material... wink

I expect Jenson to drive his usual patient race from way back there, biding his time and staying out longer than the ten cars ahead on the grid. Mixing it with MSC and ROS from the off will make the race very interesting for me, probably moreso than what will happen up front.

yes

I'm hopeful Hamilton can win tomorrow. Only problem will be if he does, Vettel will take 2nd.

Ideally Ham can take Vettel off the line, then take Webber on the long straight down to turn 2.

Even more ideally, Alonso and Vettel will be Grosjeaned. That would really spice up the final few races.

Not sure I want anyone Grosjeaned. I'd much prefer a straight fight on track, rather than a pile of rubble on the side of the track.

Hamilton & Webber are usually crap off the grid, I can see Alonso screaming off the grid like the Renaults used to when they had the induction loop TC and nabbing 2nd by the end of T1.
Promises to be very watchable. Anyone's race I think.

Plus there is no way on earth Red Bull are going to let Webber fight Vettel and risk the WDC. Expect a (perhaps deliberately) fluffed start from Webber and Seb disappearing into the sunset.

I really hope that isn't the case though. I'd like to see the result being: Hamilton, Alonso, Button. I'd love to see a Lotus on the top spot but I think that boat has sailed sadly.

The Ferraris are very quick off the line, especially Massa so perhaps they can mix things up a bit. Saying that I'd like to see Massa do well too. biggrin

But repeated from 11.30 on sky, which gives me time to get the dogs out and a bit of work done. Just have to dodge hearing the results before I watch it....

What were McL thinking of? That was too close in Q1 for Lewis.

The RBs will have a significantly reduced advantage during the race with the restriction on DRS so it could be interesting. Vettel is in a bit of a quandry for the first corner. He needs to keep in front of Alonso and with LH on the less dusty side (and just the one support race) it could be tight. It could be a WDC deciding moment.

Mind you, if LH fluffs the start it could be even better.

It looks like it will be an interesting race tomorrow (for a change).
Doubt it was Red Bull's double DRS that gave them the speed today. They weren't fastest through sector 1 where that would help. They were gaining all of the time through the tight and twisty last sector.

Will be an interesting start for sure, very much looking forward to it.

I think the RBR's will be short on straight line speed as per usual, but if they get off the line to a 1-2, the rest might as well save their engines/gearboxes etc. and go re-configure their wind-tunnels.
