Been trawling the on-line Bookies lists. Vettel, despite being behind in the points, is long ODDS-ON to become a triple WDC this season. Surely with so many races still to go, and just as surely Alonso's bad luck cannot continue and Vettel maybe due for a change, those odds are not good value. Here's one list I just checked :~

4/7 Sebastian Vettel

7/4 Fernando Alonso

20/1 Lewis Hamilton

50/1 Kimi Raikkonen

100/1 Jenson Button

100/1 Mark Webber

Win only available up until the wheels turn for P1.

Two races ago, it was Alonso who was odds on. In my books, that could be reversed again. Just needs a slip up or bad luck. What do others think?

By the way, for Sunday's race, Vettel is 13-8 which could be good value if we rely on the result in Suzaka. However, in case anyone needs reminding, IF is a BIG word. I do not believe the Suzuka Mclaren form was genuine and expect the prior three races to be the more reliable guide irrespective of the new rear gizmos.

Who really knows? That's what i like about F1 in recent years. anything can happen, even a Mercedes win ... 'appens. Well once in about the past fifty years ... wink

Final thought. Alonso now @ 7-4 to be WDC this season. Surely his nil-points bad luck cannot continue.... or, will it... wink

I may have a punt on Kimi for race win on Sunday, just for fun not big bet. What are the odds for him to win in Korea?

Quickly grabbed these on-line odds. Before practice an qualifying, most bookies odds will be much the same for the race :~

13/8 Sebastian Vettel

7/2 Lewis Hamilton

7/1 Fernando Alonso

7/1 Jenson Button

9/1 Mark Webber

14/1 Kimi Raikkonen

33/1 Romain Grosjean

33/1 Sergio Perez

40/1 Felipe Massa

40/1 Kamui Kobayashi

80/1 Michael Schumacher

80/1 Nico Rosberg

100/1 Pastor Maldonado

150/1 Nico Hulkenberg

150/1 Paul Di Resta

250/1 Bruno Senna

750/1 Daniel Ricciardo

750/1 Jean-Eric Vergne

2500/1 and more others.

1/5 Odds Place 1,2,3

Bit skinny those odds on Raikkonen now. Could be more generous come race day depending on how they all qualify.

I expect better qualifying from McLaren than in Japan.

Is that Kimi next to Ricciardo?
Apparently he wasn't there.
I think the guy in blue next to Ricciardo is Hekki.. but who is the guy next to him ? white shirt, right arm on the table, sat opposite De La Rosa ?

Why? Makes interesting reading, even if you don't gamble.

Bloody youngsters - get back in the beer garden you!
hehe

I like MGJohns posts - gives another dimension to the racing. I've even made a few quid this year just by having a little dabble on each race.

Any chances of getting odds on one of the BBC VT packages featuring "Gangam Style"? A shame Eddie never turns up to Korea, that would have been pretty awesome.

Actually, there's more to the aspects of F1 racing and links with bookmakers than the average enthusiast might appreciate. Over many years, I have through friends and by direct contact, learned that many of the F1 teams, or certain staff members, like to have a bet or two.

If you or anyone worked for example, say with Red Bull, and you were involved with the aerodynamics and knew the latest wing updates gave 0.7 sec improvement from the previous data, you'd be tempted to have a few quid on your man.

On one occasion many moons ago, i was told by someone I trust 100% that one well known team had a massive bet(s) on their man for the WDC ~ so large that when it won, it was a great help to the team's finances next season.

If several bookies get a shedload of bets on one aspect, then that will show up in the adjusted odds and give a clue that something is up.

I personally know of one TV commentator who had a massive ante-post bet ( a bet placed well before the event taking advantage of huge ante-post odds ) which when the bet won, you would not guess or get any clues from that commentator's voice during the race. What I did know that the returns on that bet were the same as what I would have had to pay for my four bedroomed detached house at the time. Now that's cool!

So, some may wish to not see it mentioned on these threads but, like it or not, betting is integral to most sports and I know from the pms I get here on PH and other sites I use, most folks like to hear about this 'dark art' side of racing... It's added interest for many even if not all F1 enthusiasts.

So, unless those that manage this site decree and instruct me otherwise, I will continue to show various odds when I see something of interest. Such as Alonso going from Hot Favourite for the WDC being replaced by Vettel..
..

Do not forget... nothing is ever that certain. Phillipe Massa was WDC for a few brief seconds until Hamilton got very lucky by one point. Back in 2010, either Alonso or Webber looked set for the title with two races to go. When Hamilton was 7-1 ON! and looked certain for a WDC Raikkonen snatched victory, ably assisted by Massa if I remember and one of the 'certainties' in racing got beat.

Yes, worth repeating, it's never over until the last Anthem is played over the final race podium of the season.

There again, that young rascal Vettel may win all the remaining races with much finger erecting .. rofl

So Rosberg has said he'll do the Gangnam style dance (Very popular right now, from Korean artist Psy) if he wins the race. I do hope he wins.

Has there been any more building done on the site?

Or is the track predictably a strip of Tarmac through a building site.

Only saw practice briefly before I fell asleep but it looked to be pretty much the same as last year, just with even fewer spectators.
