Is it the same engine in this as the road car? So could a straight forward ecu tweak liberate some extra ponies?
Not sold 100% on looks but first plan is for a test drive, as that's all these are about looks are a low secondary consideration with clio's

Just a guess but I think it is to stop the drivers over revving the engines on down shift. I am guessing that an ECU will look at all parameters before allowing the change to happen and therefor protecting the engine.

In my opinion, for what it’s worth, Renault UK should not have pushed through this new car just yet. The money is not out there to fund this change. Many people have remarked how expensive this championship (TOCA support) is. Well I guess it’s cheaper than the Porkers and definitely cheaper than the banger racers (BTCC), It’s just the level it is.
Yup. Seat Cupra cup cars have run with paddles for around 6 yrs. without their inlet restrictions, they are quicker than full touring cars.

I used to run a phase 2 cup car for a couple of seasons racing. The costs below are a lot more than you need to pay. Uk sadev agent Steve waudby @ swr Motorsport in Harlow will rebuild a box for 40% of the price below. Also 2 litres of silkolene syn5 (per steve's recommendation), or 1 litre if you're racing in the cup series and don't want the drag for that last 0.1sec, will cost circa £20, not £50....

SWR is who did ours - by the time we'd replaced cogs with chipped teeth and the diff plates, that was the price we paid.
That price includes shipping from Leeds and back, but not the time taken for removal and refitting.
On Steve's recommendation we used the Red Line oil, at over £20 a litre (less when bought in bulk, I'll grant you).

Redline MTL is good stuff thumbup

Chipped/damaged gears is when the Sadev overhaul gets expensive!

Sounds like your car hadn't been maintained that well prior to you getting hold of it?

My car was Tom Onslow-Cole's old car (won the championship in 2006) and was wanting for nothing, after they'd spent around £85k on it for the season! It was an ex-TCR car.

Straight out of the Boulevard workshop and untouched from the last race of the season (and priced accordingly) - Paul Rivett's '02 and '04 winning car.

Martin gave us excellent support from the workshop, but was clear we'd bought the car straight from a season's racing - it had been well maintained, but needed refreshing just like any car at the end of a season.
