No, a good car should give the driver a good idea of where the limit of grip is and be 'catachable'. Early radial tyres did tend to let go quite suddenly but things have moved on.As in a boolean grip/no grip condition.

Indeed. The IRL folks had a competition for a new spec chassis and the Deltawing (as a single seater) was one of the suggestions. Ben Bowlby designed Indy cars at Lola before moving to the USA. He's designed very successful (OK, it was virtually one make) conventional Indy cars before moving onto more interesting ideas with the Deltawing.The IRL went with another 'Dullara' chassis and the Deltawing moved on.
