the right decision but a shame as Alonso drove the ass of a poor car to get it where he did, Vettel could sleep the whole race as the red bull was so much faster than everything else, it was like taking an aircraft carrier to a knife for him.http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/104644

The FIA confirmed to AUTOSPORT that no team had asked for a review of the incident.

I get the impression someone has spotted the footage, Mr Benson has put it to Ferrari and asked what they're going to do, the contact at Ferrari can't rule anything out as it's not his call and that's where we are.
It's a non-story until someone actually appeals or the FIA confirm they're interested.
You were spot on.It's a non-story until someone actually appeals or the FIA confirm they're interested.
Benson has written some utter crap which has been unnecessarily controversial with misleading headlines, very disappointing.
The BBC have tried their best to spoil a brilliant F1 season.

Yep, as evidenced by Webber chalelnging for the lead. You know what the most disapointing thing about this is? The fact that Vettel drove a blinder, and has on the whole had an excellent season (where he was behind for most of it in the standings) and yet this is completely ignored because Alonso (who not so long ago was the villain of F1) didn't win and he had been judged to be 'the worthy winner' by PH.
How's this - Vettel timed his overtakes under the flags to perfection in bad conditions in a damaged car. Deal with it.
[quote=paranoid airbag]Watching the beeb's video...
1)christ that looks hairy in the wet from the driver's POV.
2)It took me three goes to spot the green flag IN SLOW-MO. How vettel did it is beyond me.
I agree with that, took me ages to see the little guy.
Really the only person at fault here is the marshal for waving a green flag, when clearly there's a yellow light 100 yards before him, another 100 yards after him and SV's in car warning lights are on yellow.

He's a professional racing driver, it's what they do.Really the only person at fault here is the marshal for waving a green flag, when clearly there's a yellow light 100 yards before him, another 100 yards after him and SV's in car warning lights are on yellow.
Isn't it a green flashing light at the end of the straight?
I was in two minds about it but you can see the green flag being waved in the video on the bbc so fair play.
The one thing I would question of all the drivers is the 70/75% rule in terms of speed under yellows as it certainly did not look or feel as if any of them backed off ? the other glaringly obvious thing is how Vergne backs off, all over the cars in front on the corner before and after pit exit then a gap of over 50ft opens up just in time for Vettel to overtake.
I appreciate this happens with other teams as well but it does spoil the road show that is F1

I really wanted Alonso to win and jumped for joy when Vettel got spun off, but not sure I would want them to win on a technicality, I have to hand it to Vettel as much as I don't like him, he drove really well, you can't say that it wasn't a championship winning drive.
Pains me to say it, but I hope nothing more comes of this.

There is still an awful lot of johnny foreigner bashing going on. Don`t forget the likes of Brabham and Tyrrell in the past, Eccleston said that in his day the team were the best at bending the rules. If any team can get an unfair advantage in the grey areas of the rules they will. When it comes to drivers they too have supported their own countrymen. We just happen to moan if it happens between German drivers. At the end of the day Vettle is the man who has scored the hat trick and well done to him.
Hamilton and Alonso shone out brighter than all others this year; this period of F1 is going to go down as one of those where a different story emerges depending on whether you actually watched it, or just look back into the statistics of the history books.
You watch the Red Bull and its like watching someone play Gran Turismo, the inputs are so linear, straightforward and correctional steer is not required 99% of the time. It's such an easy looking car to drive, and as a bonus it can achieve pole positions with its drivers missing 4 or 5 apexes on their fastest lap.
Then you compare that with how the Ferrari was for most of the year, which seemed like it was trying to kill its driver, and the absolute ragged edge that Hamilton was able to put the McLaren on so many times.
In the end it all came down to luck, Vettel getting out of a very serious incident which he had got himself into in Interlagos with miraculously no terminal damage on the car.
That said, I don't like changing the results of races after the fact.

Not sure that is much different from previous eras. ie:Fangio/Moss
Peterson etc.
The finest and best drivers don't always win the most championships.

There are, more than ever, so many people hanging around looking for scraps of headlines to make a story. The BBC are at it, Alan Henry in Autocar has spent the year trying to be controversial and it's all a bit pathetic.
