The WRC 2013 Thread
Discussion
I was going to resurrect the 2012 WRC thread and realised that it would just be better to start a 2013 one now that we are in 2013!
Monte isn't far away and M-Sport launched there car at AI today, not to sure on the colour but it started getting me excited. Also stumbled across a good video to get us all in the mood for the new season...

"Do we have any Rallyfans......"
Oh dear, not much enthusiasm, is it really that bad?
And, at 11:25 - the RedBull deal still isn't signed....... and as yet, no TV coverage for the UK.

My money is on Ogier, he almost beat Loeb in 2010 and the VW just needs to be 80% of what the Citroen is and he will nick it.
Think for the first year in a long time it will be a close one though....
Have Motors at least not even confirmed it yet? If someone else is making the broadcast I don't see why they wouldn't be ripping the promoters hands off to air it. Unless the promoter is still trying to get a Eurosport/ITV4 deal away?

Please, please not Motors TV - anyone but not Motors TV!!A HD stream via a Red Bull site would suffice though...

So who do we reckon is going to win this year?
Hirvonen is my choice. Ford always shoot themselves in the foot (hope I'm wrong as I'm looking forward to seeing what Ostberg can do in a works car) and I think Ogier and Latvala will fight each other forcing each other into mistakes. Hirvonen has become Mr reliable and fast. leegar30 said:
So, there is no where to watch WRC on uk tv this year?
The only thing I have found so far is the Youtube channel via the official WRC site, what sort of coverage this will bring I don't know, but any coverage is good coverage.I think Red Bull will sort a TV deal eventually, but after the lack of promotion over the past few years the series is going to have to put on a bit more of a spectacle this year if its to convince a channel to commit long term.

Apparently we will have it here in Wales on our welsh language channel S4C !! There is one male and one female presenter with the latter being worth tuning in for regardless of anything else!!I think Red Bull will sort a TV deal eventually, but after the lack of promotion over the past few years the series is going to have to put on a bit more of a spectacle this year if its to convince a channel to commit long term.

I may see if I can pick up S4C through Virgin then. I don't know one word of Welsh but at least I can watch it on TV! Plus if the presenter is worth a watch, all the better ;-)
The website is http://www.ralio.co.uk/Schedules are not showing anything at the moment and it might that the deal was done too late in the day to cover the Monte. Ralio did all the 2012 season and I am sure they are doing the 2013 as well.
In the meantime, if you go to the 'about us tab' you can read about Lowri Morgan

Could this mean a possible future C4 deal? Also my Welsh is non-existent, so I can't make any sense of tvguide.co.uk, could you let us know date and times you have seen it scheduled?
Channel 4 had their chance and dropped it after 2 or 3 seasons at the turn of the century. I've watched some on S4C before. Welsh commentary, then they get the drivers to speak in their native tongue, which gets translated into Welsh! Of course you can get the English subtitles for it.This has to be the most open championship since 2003 and there's hardly any coverage for it. Very sad, especially having watched Eurosport's fantastic coverage of the Monte when it was in the IRC.
Taking my Rally hat off, and being realistic - Is there really demand for a Free to air TV station to cover it? The reason they all dropped it was because of low viewing figures. Why should ITV4, Five, BBC3 etc show any interest. I hope I’m wrong, but it’s not looking good.
If the RedBull deal had been signed before Christmas, and not recently, then maybe a TV deal could have been reached

I think the problem is that it is quite expensive for the TV company compared to the number of viewers it gets.If the RedBull deal had been signed before Christmas, and not recently, then maybe a TV deal could have been reached
