A lot of hanging around as we won't be doing every session.

Have only just clocked the re-revised timetable and the fact that the Saturday evening race has been dropped and therefore as a consequence (by the looks of it) that all the Friday activity has also been dropped. Sadly looks like this year is going to be a bit of a disappointment.
The Silverstone website says that the gates open at 08:00 on Friday, and the tickets we have received have a Friday stub, but seems like there will not be anything race related to do other than hang around in the pits.
I guess this is the ongoing fallout from the miserable locals that resulted in the 24 hour race being dropped for this year in the 1st place, and the wider hassle that a lot of circuits are going through. Sad and short sighted state of affairs given the standing of this country on the motorsport/engineering world stage

Iirc it was down to cost of circuit hire and a low entry last year that saw the 24 dropped to 6 hr not opposition from the localsSeveral times during his stints on the circuit radio station last year, James Tucker seemed to suggest that the fate of the 2013 24x7 was being determined through negotiations with the local parish council, driven by local concerns. He said at the time that it looked likely that the way opposition would be mitigated would be through an agreement to skip it for a year.
I don't know whether that was resolved and then the quantity of entries became the issue, but certainly this time last year, local concerns appeared to be a significant factor.

Good rule of thumb - take any figure JT quotes as entries / cars on the grid, and halve it - you won't be far off !!
The Spa Classic 6 hour event however, which is where I will be with Topcats this year, entries had to be in by Feb / March - the grid is packed out, plus reserves, and some people just plain did not get an entry !
Did we make the right choice to move away from Britcar ?
