The high turnover of 20 year old millionaires' kids is in danger of turning this into a bit of a gameshow. I'll still watch (obviously!) but what's going on at the top teams is much more interesting than the bottom end scrap, which is a shame. The struggles of Caterham etc to start scoring points etc were quite interesting before. It's always been a bit of a rich kid sport, but the new intake all seem a bit boring and entitled.

Anyway....

I'm glad that the Marussia's have sorted their KERS out. They were embarrassingly slow and nigh on dangerous at points last year.
and yet they were still only overtaken in terms of position by caterham (with KERS) at the end of the last race... HRT i'd agree more but i thought marussia put up a reasonable fight.
i'd actually be more worried that a desperately cash strapped cosworth have had to incorporate KERS and can foresee many more failures and problems for them (assuming it is a cosworth system?)

Williams ran KERS with the Cosworth engine in 2010 before they switched to Renault engines.

I still don't get this Red Bull / Torro Rosso thing...

Why does the Red Bull have Infinity written on the side and the Torro Rosso has Red Bull on it?
Torro Rosso is owned by Red Bull (It's the Spanish translation) ...
"Spanish translation"?? It's Italian, full title is Scuderia Toro Rosso, the team - né Minardi - is based in Faenza.

I don't know why, but I have a feeling there might be some good quotes from Kimi this year with Suzi interviewing him.

Who's your money on then?

All up for grabs or predictable Button/Alonso/Webber/Vettel scrap with Seb taking it out?

With Infiniti paying BIG bucks to have their logo splashed down the side of the Championship winning cars I would Imagine Red Bull wanted to take advantage of advertising "real estate" on the lesser cars, after all, the Red Bull team already carries the Red Bull brand, to the causal observer "Torro Rosso" could mean anything. If you're going to subsidise a whole second team then you may as well grab all the advertising space wink
Toro Rosso, and it's Italian, not Spanish.

Toro rojo - Spanish for red bull. Close to Italian I suppose... (Resists temptation to be rude, but only just)

I also hope Webber can stick it to the German a bit more, he's not got long left in the sport at this level.
With you on that one. Not just stick it to the German but more importantly to that very ungracious Helmut Marko.
I think the Marko quote will spur him on a bit this year, look at his silverstone performance after the number 2 driver stuff, he went out and blitzed everyone. I'd love to see him do the same thing for the whole season. A Button/Webber championship battle would be a good one biggrin

No one ran KERS in 2010. It was run in 2009 by some teams but there was a gentleman's agreement to not run it at all in 2010 for money reasons. It returned in 2011 on most teams.

Could someone explain the purpose of the 'vanity panel' please? I don't understand it at all.

The regulations say the nose has to be a different height to the chassis, which is why last year there was the step in the nose. This year the teams are allowed to cover that step- with a panel - to make it look better - vanity. These can't provide any aerodynamic effect which is why the red bull doesn't have one. Adrian newey is quoted on the bbc website (somewhere) as saying the gains are not worth carrying the extra weight.

You're right, my mistake, I meant 2011 (I actually looked it up this time rather than doing it off the top of my head)
