I agree, the rest of what sky offer does not appeal to me in the slightest! So a no from me then. I'm not tight, not unable to When I cancelled a few years back they simply couldn't understand that my reason to cancel was that I don't watch much television, they were dumbfounded. But the box, the moving pictures, you must need them, how will you survive without it! I'm doing fine lol

Painting Murdoch as a baddy. You might want to look at what they have involvements in before making that sort of statement.

The fact that I won't be watching it on Sky has nothing to do with ability or tight-fistedness, ta very much, I just have a problem with giving money to an organisation like Sky that's an offshoot of one of the most morally dubious corporations on the planet. I shall be doing what I did last year, and using the free-to-air satellite feed from RTL in conjunction with BBC five live for the races that aren't on BBC TV live. It required an investment of fifty quid in March last year for the dish and decoder. And the feeling of flicking two fingers at Sky is priceless!
how do these work, i dont care if they are legal but does it require much work.i have an exisiting satellite dish on my house can i just plug in and go?
Will I be watching?
No; its boring
No; its become a procession with lead changes only courtesy of fluffed put-stops
No; I can't stand Suzi Perry (and I know a few things about her to justify my comment)
No; there are hardly any personalities in F1 now; what happened to the Sennas, Prosts, Hills and Hunts?
No; why watch cars that all look alike, driven by drivers who all look and sound alike when I could go and stand on the inner ring road in Mansfield and watch the 'boy-racers' circulate round and round
No; because I refuse to pay Sky to watch it live
Other than that, yes; I may watch the highlights / lowlights...

I'll be watching the races on the BBC and actually enjoyed it more last week. Takes a bit of practice to avoid the result on non-live races but I have mastered the art of doing that now.
Last year we had details of how the BBC/Sky selection of races worked. I assume that the selection process was the same this year but Sky went first hence getting Monaco? Can anyone confirm.
Also the F1 channel is moving into te Sky Sports package soon (if it hasnt happened already) this means the price will be going up for new subscribers, whether it means it will be available on Virgin I dont know.

When push comes to shove, F1 aint that great for me to be paying up for Sky. I hate football and most of the rest of Sky is crap which I wouldn't have time if they did find something good. Being forced into watching to 20 min highlights ( which they can often struggle to make 20 mins long of entertainment ) is no big deal and often saves wasting from Noon to 3pm sat in front of the TV.
I will definitely be watching.
However, some caveats:
1. Considering the amount of money Sky are spending on this, their coverage somehow doesn't quite work IMO. The team are not strong enough ( not a fan of Lazenby at all ) and the general feel of the coverage is a bit Tesco, when clearly this is a premium product that should be more Waitrose... Some of the support shows are pretty shonky.
2. The BBC do it better. But I am not a fan of Suzy Perry. I think her appointment is a lazy and unimaginative appointment. I guess a BBC exec was forced to think that he needed a woman ( to be more PC ) and she needed to have some knowledge of motorsport. She was probably the only person they could think of. Personally, I much, much prefer Lee McKenzie, I think she did a fine job standing in for Jake Humphrey when the Olympics were on and so they should have given her the top job. I can only think that some lazy BBC exec figured that a "certain age of man" would go for Perry because she was "sexy". A mistake IMO. I fear the BBC will lose their edge.
But I am one of those suckers with the Sky subscription so I will be watching.
One thing does bother me - the support races. Considering the cameras are there anyway, why don't we see more of the other activities on the track, such as Porsche cup?

Another one not getting Sky just for the F1. Last season was great, but I suspect this season may revert more to the year before and will be less open. Still, watching every race live is quite a commitment, especially on a nice summer weekend (not that we get many of those!) so in some ways it is quite liberating not to have all the races live!
I'll watch some of it.
Getting sky just for F1 still doesn't make financial sense. So I'll either catch the highlights or watch live some other way (in the pub obviously https://twitter.com/F1inBrum ).

I have to disagree there, there coverage is excellent and far more insightful than the BBC ever was.The beauty of the Sports F1 channel is they can dedicate so much more time (to the disgust of the o/h) to every race weekend.
Already had my fix this morning for P1 and P2 live!
One thing that did occur to me is why the BBC dont have a fixed time for highlights on BBC2 of say 8pm and make it their fixed motoring/motorsport slot. So on non f1 race weekends they could show highlights of other motorsport, Le Mans (series), BTCC, WRC etc or Top Gear.
Wouldnt that build better audience loyalty rather than the need to look at the programme schedult to find out when the race is shown?
