One thing does bother me - the support races. Considering the cameras are there anyway, why don't we see more of the other activities on the track, such as Porsche cup?
I assumed the Porsche SuperCup wasn't on as it wasn't covered in the F1 viewing rights package. Or it could be that Sky decided to buy the F1 rights as well as GP2/3 but not PSC as GP2/3 have the next F1 drivers?

I happen to disagree about the coverage quality, missing the PSC not withstanding - the GP2/3 races were good coverage and I really liked the guy commentating on them. I'm looking forwards to that almost as much as the main event. Race weekends show all the practice, qualy and races from them. With that lot, the F1, MotoGP, WSBK, WEC and ALMS there aren't enough hours in the week to keep up!

Much as Lazenby was a bit crap last season the rest of the team worked well. Ted's great - enthusiasm and a decent level of knowledge plus decent contacts in the paddock. I'm prepared to give Lazenby the benefit of the doubt - this year will show if he's got what it takes. He had a tough job following in Jake's shoes.

I'll watch it and I will watch every race on Sky.

I am a fan. I have Sky anyway because, seemingly against the grain on here, I watch TV and like to watch it on Sky.

I do fear Red Bull domination though.

Will be watching the BBC coverage.
If I wanted to watch the Sky coverage I'd have to pay an extra "25.75 per month for the sky sports on Virgin, 13 a race?.... I don't think so!

Cheers fella. Might as well have a look if im up early with my daughter its better than watching Peppa Pig

It will time out occasionally, so what I did was have two pages open at the same time, one with sound on and one without - then just refresh the one that times out while watching the other.

Enjoy!

Can those who are talking about ethics and "not giving a penny to Murdoch" please explain to me why that is the case?

It's just I'm really confused as aren't we comparing Sky to the BBC?

One of the things that we all liked about BBC was how likeable Jake was, how out-spoken Eddie J is and how quick DC was to say, 'Hey Eddie - you're talking bks'.
Speak for yourself, he was the worst thing about the BBC's coverage by far imho.

I was really speaking for myself and the missus, TBH. smile

I will openly admit, I was not a Jake fan in the early days. But I honestly thought I was probably just being jealous - one of the best jobs on TV and a guy with no knowledge or history with the sport, walking into it. However, the dynamic between the 3 guys on BBC became like the golden days of Top Gear where the personalities complimented each other.

I liked it - and I really do only speak for myself. wink

I love the way many people are slagging off SKY again when this situation is Entirely the fault of the BBC for dropping it in favour or Tennis and other nonsense.

Be greatful, if Sky hadn't opened their wallet no one would have it as the beeb would likely have paid the get out fee and we'd have No coverage.

FWIW I live in the sticks with 16 Freeview channels so I did upgrade to Sky HD last year, was well worth it. Olympics and amazing BBC Wildlife stuff in wonderful HD, all the F1, loads of extras shows and channels we couldn't get previously.
Also since we have a young child we SkyPlus everything and watch it all skipping the ads after the nipper is in bed, probably saves a couple of hours in front of the box each week.

Suck it up tightwads, Sky haters and missinformed News International haters- Sky is fine, clean the moths out of your wallet, cut the fags and beer and get Sky and watch all the testing, practice, qualifying and races live, if you don't want to see them, don't pay, YMYC.

The sour penny I will admit is shouty Croft who is a prize co*k

They were indeed the dream team I loved the interaction and dynamic of that group, but alas all good things come to an end.

I won't be watching on Sky because I pledged I would never give them a penny of my hard earned money, let alone the ££'s required for a F1 subscription.
No doubt I will however succumb to a further watered-down BBC replay version or I may just crib a feed off RTL for Monaco etc. And no, I am not in agreement with giving the Anchorperson job to Suzi Perry.

PS - will the BBC be getting a few quid back for the lack of a "European" GP - or will Sky want some money off the Beeb for the same reason?

Maybe that was it for me too, but he always looked like the geeky kid who hangs out with the cool ones (yes, I even count Eddie in that! biggrin) and laughs awkwardly, not really getting their jokes.

I usually like Suzi Perry as a presenter and I think a woman will introduce an interesting dynamic to the coverage, but we'll have to see.

I'll be watching but if Vettel starts winning then I'll be switching off. The thought of him winning a fourth championship fills me with revulsion.

I just watched some online video of Suzi looking at the new Mercedes with Gary Anderson, I think she needs to relax as she came across as tense and breathless.

I do like her as a presenter though, she normally has an easy charm and mischievous disposition and hopefully she will grow into the role, relax and be herself.

Count me out, i refuse to buy sky, rip of TV. They probably would soon even do some of the races pay-per view how they take the piss. I would rather waste my money on petrol instead.
Id just resort to seeing BBC highlights or watching it on the news.

Gave up on F1 years ago. Boring as hell. I had no idea the beeb was back in there, they kept that quiet.

The BBC's half arsed deal has left both channels with substandard coverage.

Sadly, for the first time in a long time I don't think I'll bother this year, it was such a pain trying to follow the season without a Sky subscription last year and I can't justify the money for one of those.

I didn't realise you can get a seperate SkySports TV app on the phone and watch the F1 and the other SkySports channels for £5 a month. Somebody mentioned it above I think. Thanks for that. I have just signed up. Two of the opening races not being shown live on BBC is too bad.

But I presume you have to be a Sky customer/subscriber as well...

Yep. Apparently, yes. Although, it is taking a bit long to authorise the subscription. scratchchin

I think you can only watch in the phone though, which is fine by me.

ETA: I don't think you have to be a Sky customer/subscriber.
