Obviously I know I won’t be able to bump into any F1 drivers in the new pits but wondered if you’re allowed access to the GP2 drivers? Guessing they’re located in the old pits/paddock? Open to the public?

Thanks in advance

Not a chance. They are also protected from the great unwashed by pass opperated gates and beefy gate goons.

That is is you even hgave a pass to get you across the second bridge...

Nothing controlled by Allsport / CVC / Bernie is open to the paying public who they see as nothing more than a pain. You are better off going to a NASCAR or Indy car event for full garage and driver access.

Agreed - went to the Glen in 2011 and spent 10 mins chatting to JPM.

Paying public can get in can't they? It's expensive, but I believe an F1 Paddock Club ticket will do the job?

yes you can buy a Paddock Club hospitality ticket from a number of suppliers but at close to £2,600 for Sunday and £4,000 for the weekend you are wasting your time. This will only allow you into the pit lane during official opening times, which is about a 40 minute window each day. You cannot enter the Paddock without an official FIA pass, which are available to journalists, team people and their chosen sponsors / VIP's. Even these won't get you onto the grid before the race.....

This question was asked a few months ago. Meeting drivers is possible, however in god only knows why you'd want to. The saying never meet your hero springs to mind for 90% of them. Don't expect them to stop and have a chat with you.

Go to the Silverstone Classic , walk where you want, talk to anybody who looks interesting and see GP cars from at least 5 decades is my advice. Better crowd too- not full of hysterical fans wetting their pants because they have seen somebody from off the telly.Jaundiced view , but being old enough to have walked around the F1 pits unhindered in years gone by wild horses wouldn't get me to pay fortune to be treated like dirt at British GP.

I was surprised and impressed to find at Montreal that all the support race paddocks are open - much as one might find in any UK club race meeting. Made a very pleasant change from my F1 experiences in Europe. The paddocks are down at the end of the circuit behind the hairpin and spectators are free to roam all weekend. Made a nice change, although I'm sure if GP2 and GP3 ever visited they'd be suitably inaccessible.

if you have a Paddock Club pass - that will give you access to the support races paddocks.
The F1 paddock has another level of electronic gates that requires a full F1 paddock pass

The irony of that is most paddock club pass holders couldnt give a toss who half the F1 field were. Let alone those in the feeder series.

Yep - at Monza last year I was the only person in the GP2 paddock that wasn't connected with the series !

Yes, I know they are expensive, just debating the fact you said nothing was open to the paying public, when as you have agreed yourself, it is smile

It is a shame you spent all that money and found it to be a waste of time, I myself thought it was the best way I have ever been to a GP smile

Mate, I was paid to attend 42 GP's working for a team, so it wasn't exactly hard work and it didn't cost me a penny.

Ask the person issuing your pass.

Well the electronic pass will allow you into the Paddock area. It will also get you into Silverstone and you will need to make your way over to where the old pits complex and cafe is. There you will find the buses that will take you to the "wing"

Depending on how nice you have been to the issuer or how important you are, you may be issued with pit lane or grid access.

The main thing is guard it with you life !!!!
