If, for argument's sake, a few thousand enthusiasts were to attend this meeting by turning up in their sports cars, I wonder if there are enough parking spaces at Hove Town Hall? Jus' wonderin' wink

I drove into Brighton today for some last-minute Christmas shopping. Never again.
What with their bus lanes, 20mph limit, one-way streets, blocked off streets, no right turns, no left turns (for no apparent reason) and ridiculous traffic light phasing, I have never known such a motorist unfriendly town. If you don't know your way around, ( which I don't) navigation is an absolute nightmare.
I am guessing you havent attempted to drive into, or through, Oxford....
I have and I have, and if at all possible without causing me issues, vowed never to return to either unless there is a lot of money in it for me. And I mean A LOT!

I agree entirely with you however the greens are generally motivated by ideology and the internal combustion engine simply doesn't fit in with that. They won't be happy until it's a purely EV/hybrid event so in a couple of years something else will come up that the council will use as a big stick to beat the event with. Everyone will moan and complain, petitions will be signed, and the event will carry on minus the vehicles with the highest CO2 emissions. A couple of years later rinse and repeat.
One post on this only from me, if you wish to discuss further please open a topic smile

The Greens are not interested in banning the i/c engine. The Green Party as you know it is nothing like it was when founded. It is the Communist Party - just read their papers and policies for gawd's sake. They are only taking on the i/c at the minute as they can 'use' it and it is a great and omnipotent (sp?) symbol. They are really interested in the control of the population and to achieve that they need to restrict the free movement of the people. If you think that they will consider it 'job done' if i/c cars were banned tomorrow you have a major surprise coming.

1. Agreed this is off topic here, and a bit more complicated.

On topic:
2. @SaveBST is getting Twitter coverage. If you tweet, join in.
3. Letters to Brighton Argus would do no harm.
4. An orderly, substantial presence at meeting on 23 Jan could do no harm, but I would suggest that B&H Motor Club should be consulted. A well marshalled (as per a motor sport event) presence would speak for itself.
5. Representation from other motor clubs & one-make clubs and ample media notification for a silent, dignified presence - maybe a cardboard coffin, parodying greenanity ...
6. Greens do not have control on B&H council. They rely on Labour group support. The relevant Cttee has 4 G, 2 L, 4 C. Can be identified on their web site. Not all Lab cllrs agree on this issue. Both the Lab members of the Cttee would have to vote w Cons to defeat the Gr members, as chairman has casting vote. The Lab members are cllrs Brian Fitch and Warren Morgan (in case anyone here knows them). Cttee details at http://present.brighton-hove.gov.uk/mgCommitteeDet...

I hope this is of some practical help. Meanwhile, the petition score is 8300 as I write.

12000 signatures now.

Thing is this Green Party shower of excrement(and i'm putting this politely) and Caroline Lucas puppet Jason Kitkat who are in charge do not believe in a democratic process.

I'm hoping this century old tradition doesn't get cancelled for good but i'm not holding my breath with this lot.

Ok rant over.

Could have done with this story being plopped on PH front page to get more signatures.

12,000 is massively more than any of the other issues on the council's website so should get their attention. Of course they may well argue that most aren't local and so don't count...

Looking forward to update.
