Well under a week to go till the action starts and no sign of the new WRC app or website! Not good!

Whats everyones predictions for Monte? Mine is..

1) Ogier
2) Hirvonen
3) Meeke
4) Neuville
5) Sordo
6) Bouffier
7) Evans
8) Delecour

Then who is ever left of the WRC2/Group N crews!
Very dependent on the conditions :

1. S Ogier
2. T Neuville (if the car is reliable)
3. Y-ML (if he can keep it shiny side up)
4. D Sordo (see T Neuville)
5. K Meeke
6. M Hirvonen
7. B Bouffier
8. E Evans
9. F Delecour
10. R Kubica (if he can keep it shiny side up) If it's completely dry, RK will set several fastest times, possibly lead the event, then do the inevitable biggrin

yes agreed!

Are people thinking that Ostberg is not likely to be in the top 5?!!

Given the number of times Ostberg had to super rally last year I guess not. No super rally at Monte so one shot only!
I reckon Meeke will show that the lack of Citroen pace last year had more to do with psychology than mechanics.
JML always kept it shiny side up last year but often had the car tilted towards one corner, hopefully he's got a better strategy for cuts now.
Ogier, Bouffier and Hirvonen are past winners but this must be the first RMC for many years not to have a previous WRC level winner competing

Very strong entry list indeed for the opening round ! Good to see Delecaur back.
Any idea who Jaroslav Melicharek is?

He showed his pace in his 2 outings last year, its consistancy he has to work on.

Big TV news, BT sport is to show live stages and nightly highlights of the Monte as part of a new deal for the 2014 season. Im guessing highlights are still on ITV4?

Sounds similar to the ESPN deal. Pay TV, and we know how that ended up. Barely 5 figures for programmes. Also probably means no Live streaming on the WRC website or RedBullTV.

At least there is still highlights......

From what I have read BT sport will have live stages and nightly highlights, Motors TV will have nighly highlights, and ITV4 will have coverage at the end of the event. Motors TV are even talking about upgrading to HD at last, and possibly moving to Freeview TV!

Blimey, I wouldn't be praying for snow, the chance to see Corsican style road rally action on un-studded slicks, you lucky, lucky b*stard smile

Well guys, looks like this thread passed me by, I've been waiting for the chat to start in the 2013 thread.... paperbag

In my defense I have been very busy with work and family.

Just read about the TV coverage here: http://www.crash.net/wrc/news/199410/1/bt-sport-se...

Personally I am not that bothered about live coverage or even daily, because, as above, I'm just too busy to find the time to watch much TV - I struggle to fit the live F1 coverage in.

I'm happy with a high quality 1hr highlights package on terrestrial TV, which is exactly what is needed to help encourage the interest of the non-enthusiast fan in WRC and help grow the sport, therefore giving WRC a boost, increasing sponsor interest and increasing the number of teams. In theory.

Despite what seems a push towards better TV coverage, it look like the promoters have completely missed the trick at the Autosport show! There was no mention of it during the Live Action Arene Show - I've not been for a few years, but there was always a WRC slot and an interview. Not this year. Strange.

The TV coverage seems ideal for the different type of rally fan realy. Such a shame the live streaming of all stages, new website and App hasn't come so far.

More like fussy bd I guess hehe

Mixed conditions would be ideal with differing stratigies and sudden changes of weather just after service!

Well yes, but I think it needs cars, intact, on the road, to make it into an event worth watching biggrin
Kubica circa 2013 rally GB has proven that changeable surface grip conditions aren't his forte, Meeke crashed trying too hard on the Monte whilst doing the IRC two years ago, J-ML crashed on the Turini last year, Ogier at massive speed the year before.
If your weather wishes are granted, the field will be decimated ! !

When are you heading out there ? I know you're dab hand with a camera, get some decent pics and vids please smile

You lucky, fussy b*stard biggrin
(I shouldn't complain, I'm planning to do Germany again this year)

Oh, and just for the record, I met and chatted to :

for the first time at the Autosport show last Friday smile

A top bloke and really lovely individual, totally unassuming. A real pleasure to have met him 30 years after getting into rallying as a result of a Car & Car Conversions article written by Russell Bulgin about the 1982 Tour de Corse (Bulgin experienced WR recceing the stages at near full speed as a passenger in a full house Ascona 400 before the event)

Ah, now that is a driver!! I don't think there's a Rohrl among the current lot. There is an interview with him from Autosport show; it's should be on YouTube. Dave Richards was also interviewed; and thinks the WRC's main problem is the cars......

Luckily I'm already with BT. Looking forward to this seasons WRC quite a few points of interest. Looking for a podium or two at least from Meeke and would be nice to see Evans put in a few strong performances.

On a side note. I have put in a complaint to BT asking them to properly categorise the sports on their website and app. It seems you can only view by Football and Rugby at the moment. I think it would a good idea if you could view just all the WRC content they have in one place especially considering they now have the MotoGP as well.
