What I really couldn't believe was driver changes starting at 18 laps. Hell in the old days we were just starting to get warmed up for our 45 lap stint at lap 18.
Many of us did double stints, of 86 to 90 laps, & up to 125 laps with just a toilet break. Bruce McPhee won the 68 race with just a one lap toilet break.
You have to wonder how these blokes would have gone in the early days of racing at Bathurst, when it was just a gravel road?

Dare say they would have been fine, they're all pretty bloody fit. A lot of the driver change stuff is rules and strategy now isn't it? Maximum number of laps allowed for a driver, so they time the changes to have the faster driver on track for as many of the more critical times as they can. Many of us did double stints, of 86 to 90 laps, & up to 125 laps with just a toilet break. From memory Van Gisbergen and Lowndes are both handy enough on gravel, not sure about the rest.
