Wow!

After sitting through what I thought was a fairly exciting 58 laps of F1 this series offered up more action in half a lap than the Vettel and co's entire race.

Brilliant stuff!

Highlights start at 2am on motors tv tonight if anyone missed it. Never wanted a Holden so badly in all my life! What a car!

Fantastic action. This is easily my favorite motorsport series by a long way. I've watched it for a couple of years now and it just keeps getting better and better.

Race 2; Whincup and Tander (I think) over the last few laps! how close do they want to be! exciting stuff.

I wonder what happened to V.Gisbergen in race 4? he had the other 3 races wrapped up pretty easily but went backwards in 4.

Broken ARB near the start of the race - not sure if it was from the contact or had already let go before that.

Well the opening three rounds of the V8s from Adelaide were pretty incredible!

Like many others I'm struggling to find consistent UK viewing however. Shame Premier Sports have stopped covering.

Does anyone know when Motors TV are due to cover the Melborne V8 weekend (live 13th to 16th March)?

Even my wife wants to know!

I'm considering subscribing to this:

https://www.v8supercars.com.au/v8live/schedule

if Motors TV coverage ends up being sporadic or significantly delayed.

Cheers.
I know some, er, peers if anyone is interested. I'll try to remember buzz you an email when i'm on my PC.

Not sure if this has been posted, but if you're lucky enough to get BT sport, then they have V8 supercars on live by the looks of things from this weekends simmons plains races, and in HD!

Massive RESULT!

Now that is interesting, do you know if BT Sport are showing the whole rest of the season?

I have no idea, might be worth dropping them a mail, I was just searching for the races this weekend due to motors tv poor series linking, and they popped up on the sky search. Although this is what happened last year with sky sports showing the highlights in hd for about 3 rounds then dropping it! I really hope they've got all season.

I have tweeted them, and will email them when I find the address.

I'm a BT broadband customer, but would need to sign up for bother 12 months if I add the sport channels, plus you have to pay an extra £3 per month for the hd versions of the channels, which I will gladly do if I get the whole season of the v8s. Not worth it for one weekend of racing though, there isn't anything else they show I am interested in.

I will report back if I find out anything...

Can't find anything announcing they have the coverage on the BT Sport website but could be me being stupid. Did, however, find this which suggests more coverage than just this weekend at least....

Unfortunately the news isn't good, I just had this response from BT Sport:

Thank you for the email you sent regarding V8 supercar races on BT Sport. I tried calling you but unfortunately could not reach you.

What I’ve done:

I have checked your TV guide and would like to keep you informed that the complete season of V8 supercar races will not be telecast on BT Sports 2.

Regarding the time schedule of other programmes you can visit the below link:

http://home.bt.com/entertainment/tv/tv-guide-01363...

How to get in touch:

If you have any general questions then please go to bt.com/help. If you can’t find the answer there, we’ve included lots of ways you can contact us.

Thank you for contacting BT.

Best wishes,

So, maybe the coverage will be sporadic, or maybe this chap got it wrong, but that's not enough to get me to signup for 12 months.

Watched about 6 races this morning and wow i am hooked. Always knew it was good racing in the v8's but only now have i taken a real interest in it after the demise of F1.

Nice to see Nissan, Mercedes and Volvo in the mix too. That S60 is a belter of a race car.

How do they achieve parity amongst the cars? Do some marques carry ballast for example?

No, not yet anyway, not until Scott Mclaughlin in that mighty quick Volvo keep winning races and Red Bull keep protesting.

The chassis are dimensionally identical, suspension is adjustable.

All engines are 5.0 litre V8's with 7500rpm rev limits and 10.1 compression ratio's, either modified from a manufacturers production engine or supplied by the V8 series.

They all run the same E85 ethanol control fuel.

Minimum weight with driver is 1410kg's (up 10kgs on last year as some teams struggled to hit 1400), 750kgs must be over the front axle and combined driver/seat weight must be minimum 100kgs.

Some teams quote 630bhp, others up to 650bhp.

Chassis set up, aero set up, power delivery and driver skill are the differences and almost every team seems to be right on the money in getting the most out of their car.

Red Bull are usually a little more on the money because of more money....... smile
