Charlotte this weekend, Truck ran last night, no NNS.
It's been and gone now, but Nationwide was at Iowa Sunday evening, live on Motors.

No idea what Premier were up to with the programme timings but they broadcast hours of filler, then my recording cut off after the first segment of the race. I've managed to avoid the result so far as it looks like they are showing it again on Tuesday, but can't look at facebook or twitter until then!

With Premier I always record the next one or two programmes afterwards just in case of a rain delay or caution-fest.

Glad you posted that, just checked my recording and it's done the same. Deleted it and set the magic box for the highlights now.

Yes, Premier's scheduling was bizarre. The race ran to scheduled time, so there is no rain delay excuse. For the night races I tend to record the programme afterwards in case it overruns, it worked out fine because the programme after the All Star race was over 2 hours.

Apologies for the late posting, I was away this week and only got back this morning.

Ok, Still in Charlotte, Coca Cola 600 for Cup, longest race of the season, timing sucks as they are avoiding the Indy 500, premier sports are live from 10:30pm Sunday night.

Nationwide run tonight (Saturday), Motors TV live from 7:30pm.

Remember Kurt Busch is doing both the Indy 500 and the 600, so he's a busy boy this weekend. I on the other hand may be off to sleep off the jetlag wink

The Coca Cola 600 is about to start smile. Amazing just how many empty seats there appear to be!

Hello all,

Apologies for missing last week, I was away and forgot to post.

Pocono for cup this weekend, No NNS, Trucks are in Texas.

Cup is Sunday, Premier Sports live from 6pm
Trucks run tonight (Friday), green flag something like 2:15am Saturday morning.

  1. 48 looking for three in a row this weekend, if he manages it it'll be the third time that Johnson has done that in Cup.
Rumours continue to surround the Rousch drivers, Edwards is still widely tipped to join JGR in a 4th car for the team but a second rumour of a move to Penske in a third car is also gaining traction. Some think Biffle is on the way to MWR, quite possibly taking 3M with him, others now think he may stay at Rousch.

Josh Wise has announced that the whole Dogecoin/Reddit thing has raised enough to part fund an entry at the Sonoma race in the #98.

Off the back of Kurt Busch's respectable showing in the Indy 500 AJ Foyt says that he'd run Tony Stewart or Jeff Gordon in next years race.

I know next years 500 is a way away, but given the noises jeff Gordon has been making about his bad back would he be up to it, is it a long term back issue he has?

The crowd seemed quite happy with the result, judging by the noise they were making!

Not the most exciting track or race!

TNT commentary is pretty dire compared to fox.

Onwards for a split schedule:

Trucks run Sunday in Illinois.
NNS & Cup are in Michigan.

Nationwide are on Saturday from 6:30pm on MotorsTV
Cup run on Sunday, Premier Sports are live from 6pm.

The Rousch driver thing is still on going, nothing new there.

Ryan Newman ended up looking for a ride to Michigan, Dale Jr said he could jump on his plane, however Earnhardt forgot and left without Ryan, eventually he managed to get a ride on Dale Jarrets plane.

Whole bunch of new sponsors this weekend so keep an eye out for new or modified liveries.

Kyle Larson has disclosed he's to be a Dad, baby due around Christmas. The kids are having kids!

With Hendrick on a roll (4 consecutive wins) who can beat them ? maybe Harvick ? he's already won this year and has grabbed pole for Sundays race.

Road course time!

Cup are at Sonoma Raceway, premier sports are live from 7pm Sunday.
Nationwide are in Wisconsin at Road America, Motors TV re live from 7:30pm Saturday

It looks like Biffle will re-sign at Rousch after all the to and fro. Strong rumours that Edwards has signed to drive a fourth car for Joe Gibbs, M&Ms could be primary sponsor, monster energy would step up to replace them on the #18 team. I guess we'll just have to wait for an announcement.

Goodyear have been testing tyres for Indy, Chicago and Kentucky. They've been concerned that the faster race pace this year could be a problem for the tyres in the summer races, so they've been testing to ensure the tyres will hold up.

They're concerned now?! The tyres were awful at Fontana and at least one other track...

I heard something about Michelin talking with NASCAR, if they're anything like their WEC tyres then the possibility of double-stinting in NASCAR could be very interesting!

Hi,

I'm in Florida when the Daytona 400 is on, is it worth going? Never been to a NASCAR event and thinking it might be worth a look.

Any ideas on best way to sort tickets or stay?

Thanks!

Pablo - I think they took a bit of a battering by NASCAR/drivers/media so are looking to sort themselves out, in a typically public NASCAR fashion of course.

edition - I would post in the holidays section for that, Matt Harper lives out there and I can remember him posting about Daytona a few times, he'd likely have the info you need.

It's definitely worth going, the spectacle is simply incredible. And the sound....

We went to the Daytona 500 last year. We phoned the ticket office from the UK and picked the tickets up when we arrived at the event. It was all very easy, just make sure you bring a proof of identity as you'll need one to pick up your tickets.

I can't help you with accommodation as we were staying in Orlando on holiday (about an hour away) but I'm sure somebody will be along.

Hoorendously late posting this week, mainly because I forgot.

Sprint cup race starts in just under 4 hours, Premier sports live at 11:30pm.

The Rousch thing drags on, they have claimed Biffle is not resigned yet.
M&Ms moving to sponsor Edwards has also been denied, but what do we make of this ?

Jayski said:
Kyle Busch makes odd comments about M&M's: File it under things that make you go "hmm..." but there was an interesting exchange over the #18 Joe Gibbs Racing radio frequency after Carl Edwards won the Toyota/SaveMart 350 on Sunday. While Kyle Busch was driving into the garage after race he asked, "Is the M&Ms contract signed yet?" To which an unidentified voice replies, "No". Crew chief Dave Rogers then adds, "But you fought hard all day. Sorry we didn't bring you a better race car. You drove all day. Bring it back to us." While we're not sure what to make of the comments, the timing seems curious, particularly since J.D. Gibbs told reporters this weekend that M&Ms will remain with Busch through 2015
hmmm indeed.

Good news for Ryan Newman, Caterpillar have extended their sponsorship deal.

Back to Daytona for the evening race.

No Trucks.

NNS run 12:45am Saturday morning. MotorsTV will now the race 4:20pm Saturday
Cup runs 12:50am Sunday morning, Premier Sports are live from 11:30pm Saturday.

Not much news around really, other than a whole stack of sponsorship deals.

Just 9 races until the chase starts, season is going way too quickly!
