I 'think' it's good news, but there is a lot of work to do yet and as I've written about earlier it worries me there will be negative as well as positive effects.

Interesting times.

Roverp6b has to be a troll. Surely?

Great news. I have a massive urge to get into hill climbs/sprints as I find going round in circles a bit boring.

Not at all. I enjoy driving nice cars sensibly (which doesn't equate to slowly) on public roads. I have little to zero interest in motorsport and wish it could be restricted to tracks. Just had another bloody bike race, huge swathes of Surrey cut off, lots of people and businesses reporting difficulties and lost income as a result. Absolutely no consultation whatsoever, as usual.

Consultation document said:
A total of 6077 responses were received, although some respondents did not comment on every question. 58 of the responses were from local councils, police forces, local access forums and other organisations with an interest in motor sport, many of whom were listed in Annex A of the consultation document. 5045 of the responses received were template responses to the first five consultation questions, sent from Motor Sport supporters strongly in favour of the proposals. For statistical purposes, these responses have been counted throughout this proposal response as one response
This bit made me chuckle and shows how template responses where advice on response to questions can be isolated and minimised - always best to reply in your own way

Same happened with the potential problem with closing Green Lanes, template letters are seen as just that. Which is a bit unfair really as the people were only showing support.

Well, if people can't be arsed to go through the template letter and reword and add their own opinions to it as well, that's pretty much all it's worth.

Agreed however The MSA wrote

MSA said:
The consultation asks for your response to a series of specific questions
listed below. Only Questions 1-5 are really relevant, but you can answer as many of the questions as you like. We have suggested below some template answers to these questions, but if you would like to compose your own response, please feel free to do so.

If you wish to make a submission without reading the full consultation document, simply copy the suggested answers on the next page and send them by email to
msc@culture.gsi.gov.uk
I'm guessing that's what happened and as a result all the replies got lumped together and counted as 1 response

I've never been sure how they justify treating 5000 responses as one response even if they copy the same thing - after all its still 5000 people saying they share that opinion!

I suppose it's to filter out 'bots', which I expect could be programmed to fill in thousands of responses.
