It was great to see a proper full grid of touring cars, how come the clio grid is so small? have they just out priced the drivers?
New cars happened at the last change in 2007? to the mk3, grids went from 32+ for the mk2 down to mid teens the following year. Hopefully will pick up during the year.
£18k for the entry fees - which is higher than the entry for the BTCC.
It's gone from a season that was possible for £60k to a £115k plus a season.
I thought the racing was terrible - but I only watched it live so didn't see the whole race.
Update - was told today it's more likely to cost £150k a season !!!

What did everyone make of the Menu/Ingram incident?
Seemed odd to me that earlier Hynes was excluded for (IMO) a clumsy racing incident, while Menu kept his foot in, into a gap getting ever smaller.
I don't remember the Hynes incident.Seemed odd to me that earlier Hynes was excluded for (IMO) a clumsy racing incident, while Menu kept his foot in, into a gap getting ever smaller.
Menu was only moving in to a closing gap because Ingram continued to move across off the racing line to block Menu, unfortunately for Ingram Menu was not going to be forced in to lifting out or moving on to the grass so Ingram span himself off Menus bumper in to the barrier...

Hynes, whilst still in the corner, clattered the rear of Depper's car that hard it broke the suspension and then didnt lift spinning the car in to the crash barrier.
Menu, had exited the corner and gained the cut back when Ingram closed the door with the nose of Menu's car already along side his. Menu could have lifted, possibly letting him off with a tank slapper, but is under no obligation to. Menu didnt have that good a run, Ingram could have left him space and continued side by side through the next corner and still had the inside for Clearways.

Such a good weekends racing. Brilliant to see 30 cars on track at once and a much more difficult grid to judge than previous years with a lot less pushing and good clean racing down the whole field. Proton sounded a little ill to be honest and it sounded like you were short shifting a little into McLaren?
Shame about Ingrams smash Was right in front of where I was standing but because I was watching some tool getting their Mazda Bongo stuck I missed what caused it.
Where about was that?Shame about Ingrams smash Was right in front of where I was standing but because I was watching some tool getting their Mazda Bongo stuck I missed what caused it.
I've driven mine out of southbank in the rain with no problems.

Pretty obnoxious way of phrasing your opinion when the lack of penalty issued to Menu would suggest the CofC also holds an "interesting view."

I think it was a little bit of knaive thinking by Ingram, maybe thinking Menu would back off? He's learned the hard way with that incident. Aside from that incident, the kids clearly got pace, good luck to him!Hynes, whilst still in the corner, clattered the rear of Depper's car that hard it broke the suspension and then didnt lift spinning the car in to the crash barrier.

Ingram was the only impressive newcomer imo, biggest disappointment after all the hype was Hynes.
I'd give it a couple of races. I know Brands is a short lap but lap times were incredibly close. Hynes dissapointed but I think Jack Clarke and Hunter Abbott will be pushing for top 10 at some point this year I think.emicen said:

I accept that my view was not a good as others may have been on TV or positioned else where round the circuit hence a differing opinion was of interest to me.

Anyone else feel the SC was rather over-used in race 2? A car substantially far back in the gravel trap and one off the side of a semi straight does not constitute a safety car IMO.
That could just as easily be phrased; A car in the gravel on the outside of paddock where cars can easily make it all the way to the tyre wall, and a car off the side of a semi straight where 2 further cars would clatter the barrier in race 3.Roo said:
Was a good days racing.
The car looks like it handles quite well Wookie.
Why have the MGs got such a different/distinctive sound to them? They almost sound like they're constantly misfiring compared to the other cars out there.
Car handles great, no complaints whatsoever and the most comfortable I've ever felt in an FWD car.The car looks like it handles quite well Wookie.

No idea with the MG's, perhaps a variation in exhaust design!

at BTCC meetings, BTCC cars must, if possible, be removed from gravel traps AND cars can only be removed from Brands Hatch gravel traps by JCBs/snatch vehicles whilst the safety car is in operation. Other race meetings may operate to different standards.</discussion.>

Hope you get the mapping sorted and get the car competitive, it certainly looks the part in pics. Out of interest are they mapped 'on the track' or on a dyno?No idea with the MG's, perhaps a variation in exhaust design!
