He punted Smith at the exit of Druids at the start of race two.

Giovanardi getting punted off was my highlight. Did he realise he wasn't signing up with an utterly dominant manufacturer team?

Just been looking at photos from today, this one of Wookie's Proton stood out! biggrin

Yes in future we want the fire to be inside the engine hehe

Seriously though, it was basically a shakedown for us, car handles great just need to get the mapping sorted on the engine and fix the 13mph speed disadvantage!!

Such a good weekends racing. Brilliant to see 30 cars on track at once and a much more difficult grid to judge than previous years with a lot less pushing and good clean racing down the whole field. Proton sounded a little ill to be honest and it sounded like you were short shifting a little into McLaren?

Shame about Ingrams smash frown Was right in front of where I was standing but because I was watching some tool getting their Mazda Bongo stuck I missed what caused it.

BTCC races were far and away the best on show, which is how it should be. Plato's drive through the field in race two was very entertaining, and I thought Turks was outstanding in race 3. While the bumper cars stuff we saw in the middle of last season (Snett for example) is good for the kiddies, the more professional approach we saw yesterday is better for the motorsport purists. How long it lasts is anyone's guess though!!

If I'm honest, some of the supports were a bit so-so, the Renaults especially. Hope their grid will swell as the season progresses. I must be alone in loving the Porsches, probably because sports cars are my number one motorsport, but a bigger grid would be welcome and it's a shame Gelzinis(sp?) is no longer around to give Meadows a bit more of a run for his money in the championship.

And as for the weather - how spoiled were we??? Lovely! And what a contrast to the last time I was at Brands for the season-closer...

Great racing, especially race 3.

I'll be rooting for Turkington to win the series!

What Renaults were you watching? The lead group displayed some of the best attack and defend without resorting to panelling I've seen in a long time.

Ah yes, it actually snowed briefly at last years series opener!

Not terribly excited by the Clio's either. They look huge and the grid is too small. Amusing that the new 1.6t engine seems to have the same dodgy power steering whine my Clio has. A familiar irritating noise coming up the circuit hehe

Yep it was the very first run of the engine in the car so we were working on mapping the whole weekend and running low boost. We were also forced to run a silencer that was fitted last minute as we couldn't pass the noise test which wouldn't have helped the sound.

Might have been short shifting into McLaren, possibly because I was going slower than other cars on the straight but needed the extra gear to take it cleanly, but it seemed to work compared to other cars around me and was 7kmh up on Dan last year through there hehe

Was a good days racing.

The car looks like it handles quite well Wookie.

Why have the MGs got such a different/distinctive sound to them? They almost sound like they're constantly misfiring compared to the other cars out there.

I was pleasantly surprised as to how entertaining the FF was. Not normally a fan of that but it was good to watch.

The less said about the start of the Ginetta Juniors the better. hehe

Forget to say we also saw our last Plato pass of the day as he roared past us in his Cayenne (reg: P1 ATO) on the M25!!

Where about was that?

I've driven mine out of southbank in the rain with no problems.

What a great day of viewing. One thing I couldn't believe was the noise of the BTCC cars. Popping and banging as the zipped along the main straight.

Also thought that the Ginetta juniors was a good race, talk about no fear! One lad raced without a bonnet, didn't seem to bother him.

Typical junior racing then even with small grids they produce brilliant action and with a bigger grid this year makes it even better. Just hope the other pick up numbers during the year.

The btcc cars make current f1 cars so dull to listen who would of thought an f1 car would be quieter than a btcc car.

It was great to see a proper full grid of touring cars, how come the clio grid is so small? have they just out priced the drivers?

New cars happened at the last change in 2007? to the mk3, grids went from 32+ for the mk2 down to mid teens the following year.
Hopefully will pick up during the year.

Even with the small grid it was still a entertaining race.
