Hi there,

Had a memorable day at Silverstone today. Camera and operator were really gelling today and I got some great pics of the FIA WEC cars on track.

Managed to work through some quickly, as I am off to British GT at Oulton Park tomorrow so wanted to get some up tonight.

Was great to see the new Porsche 919 it is a gorgeous car and was quickest in Free Practice 1

and a great shot of both the factory 919 and 991 RSR

Also saw the third 991 RSR which has joined the championship this year in addition to the two factory cars

997 RSR lifting a wheel in the ELMS free practice

Audi R8 getting it all wrong

New for 2014 Toyota TS 040

New for 2014 Audi R18 e-tron Quattro

Just in case I forgot where I was

and finally a nice surprise in the car park of the BRDC

Hope you enjoy the pics.

Regards

Tim

Excellent shots smile I was going to post mine, but they were a little poor compared to these.

God they are ugly cars - but technology extraordinary , What did teh Porshe sound like ? I can only think of rally Saabs and Lancia Fulvias which used a V4 before and Lancia was so narrow angle it was nearly straight anyway . Intrigued...

Christ, how small is that 919, it looks like the 911 is about to eat it!

the sound is muted... a bit more racey than the diesels but not a great sound, certainly does not sound like a screaming 4 cylinder. Not heard a new F1 car yet but I am assuming its the same sort of sound.

I took my DSLR today but the weather was so grey and grim it never came out of the case.

I was sat at Woodcote most of the time, saw the Audi have an embarrassing fishtail and crash early on, and countless near misses as cars went 3 abreast around the corner.

Surprised to hear 43000 people turned up- i have never seen Silverstone that empty. Guess Easter Sunday stopped many from coming along.

judging by the tv, ( I know that's not a true representation) it looks like less people there today than yesterday as there was a good crowd at the proper end of the track for the ELMS and F3 racing as well yet that area looked deserted today AFAICT. Whatever, I think I chose the best day to go and saw today on the tv- even had a choice of 2 tv channels to watch.
Surprised that not a single Audi finished and nice to see Dinger wave the green flag.

Silverstone with anything short of ~75K looks pretty empty, it can hold well past 100K so having 43K spread around it will look sparse! The pit straight grandstand was > 50% full for most of today which was a pleasant sight... smile
