When my Grandpa sadly passed away he left us his old 1l micra, recently my Dad and I have been wondering whether there would be an opportunity to take it rallying, any advise on where to look for what modifications we would need to make to make it legal and what events would be cheapest and best to get into would be appreciated?
Thanks
Will

Best bet is to join a local cub and do some Autosolos and 12-car rallies first I think - no mods needed initially and it'll give you an idea what you're getting into and get you access to a whole load of experienced help.

Ok I'll have a look, thanks, we've got other cars that are much faster but I've seen micras in rallys recently so we thought it would be a good use for it!

The other thought we had was track days, where we don't have to worry about licences and rules on the specs of the car, there are lots of track days about on proper race tracks but I would use my other car for that, are there track days for rallying on rallycross type tracks for example?

If there are I've never heard of such a thing.

Moribund has the right idea, there are plenty of opportunities to use your Micra for very little outlay on Autosolo's and 12 Cars. Also add in Autotests, Navigational Scatters, Production Car Trials and even Road Rallies or Targa Rallies.

Notice your location states North West and South West. Certainly the club motorsport scene in the North West is thriving. Have a look at this website, which is a group of local Motor clubs known as SD34.

agree with the rest ,there were a couple of micras a the Bath autosolo I was at a couple of weekends ago.

autosolo, autotest, 12 cars, PCT and sprinting all available without changing the car though with sprinting you need helmet , racesuit, gloves etc

I am a member of Bristol Motor club in Bristol there are others such as pegasus, Bath and District

a more comprehensive list of South West motoclubs is here
