The old man and me have our weekend tickets - will probably give Saturday a miss, but certainly be there for Sunday and Monday.

Usually installed at Lodge corner with a bit of a wander around to other places. Will be in my Grey Octavia parked somewhere between Lodge and the start/finish line.

This will be the 5th year running we have been, and my mum and dad are now under strict instructions not to arrange their holidays for over the bank holiday weekend.

Went today.....not many others did though, weather evidently taking its toll. Some great racing and mr.cleland is still a mean peddler. Highlight for me was that mk2 escort in the super tourers and the mini/cortina battle in the older class.

Car park on the outfield was a bit Glastonbury on the way out though !!

Spent the day getting wet at Knickerbrook but saw some great racing. Highlight for me was the DB trophy - the sheer noise and spectacle of the F5000/F1/F2s being driven in anger in the wet was superb and brought back some great memories of seeing these cars in their prime. Had to get home early and left when race 2 was red flagged. Looked a pretty nasty shunt from where I was stood. Hope the driver was OK??

Driver in DBT accident was (I believe) Tim Barry and he has minor injuries. I'm on a company network and can't see all the above content but fear it was the poster above - Kickstart and his lovely Brabham BT38.

It was wet and cold yesterday though, wasn't it?!

Thanks for the update, and glad the driver's OK. I recognise the BT37, which was going pretty well yesterday. Is it a Graham Hill car? - I seem to remember him pedalling a Jagermeister sponsored car back in the early 70s.

I've been a regular at Oulton for more than 25 years and cannot recall any mediocre weather either!

Great isn't it. I've been about 10 times this year and been freezing every time

True, I was at the British GT Championship last year and it was -4 degrees and snow on the ground outside the circuit. Not very pleasant in a tent! this year was decent but was a bit muddy in places, the outfield next to the pit straight looked awful, saw a few cars getting pulled out from there by the circuit defenders.

I hear the same about Croft - but the reality is that neither has unusual weather at all. The weather gets mentioned because the only outdoors some people experience is at race weekends I suspect!

It snowed at the Easter meeting at Oulton in 1997. Dino Morelli demonstrated the latest F3000 Lola and I suspect it was the only race meeting I've ever left early just out of sheer coldness.

Last year's Easter meeting was bitter as well. I always keep a pair of gloves (and some sunscreen) in my geekbag now as you just can't guarantee anything.

Coppice - I'm inclined to agree. As you know I spend most weekends at a race track and most weeks sat at a desk. I've no reason to go outside except to watch cars. Saying that, the coldest event I can ever recall was the RoC at Wembley. It was chronic. I bought an incredibly naff knock-off scarf from a vendor outside because one scarf wasn't keeping me warm!

Remind me not to take you winter pike fishing !But seriously..... many people are woefully unprepared for the weather -I always laugh discreetly at the BTCC demographic whose womenfolk totter around on high heels in the mud or the tough lads at winter rallies in trainers and t shirts as they shiver their way to hypothermia .Smugness is Goretex and thermals on a cold day at the track .
