Horrible news. I was walking past that bit of track moments after the incident and can concur that the track marshals did a fine job. The other drivers involved were shaken and shocked. Hope they are okay.

I know that classic racing can be just as competitive as 'the big stuff', but there is something particularly tragic when an enthusiast suffers such awful outcome.

All pistonheaders will be joining in offering our condolences to family and friends at this time.

Depending on when a particular racing car was made, it's ability to protect the driver varies greatly.

With this in mind you realise that these guys put an awful lot on the line for their passion but also for our entertainment.

Sad to hear this. I much admired Denis' style and panache. At least he died doing something he clearly loved.

He was my customer for over 25 years, and will be sorely missed. As a man who always prepared the cars that he drove himself, I always felt that he was very much in the mould of Sir Jack Brabham.

Very sad news indeed. My thoughts are with the family.

It happens right in front of us, it's always very worrying what will happen when cars of that type touch wheels and worse still when they flip.

There was another driver hurt who was need a lot of attention but I've not been able to find out anything about his condition.
