Glynn Geddie charged with drink driving in Aberdeen
British Touring Car Championship driver Glynn Geddie has been charged with a drink driving offence in his home town of Aberdeen last month on August 19th. The 24-year-old has entered a plea of not guilty It is alleged the United Autosports driver was found driving on Westhill Drive with 52 microgrammes of alcohol in his breath, over the legal limit of 35, reports the Aberdeen Evening Express. He will face a pre-trial hearing in February 2015. United Autosports have announced that they will be standing down Geddie for the remainder of the season and searching for a new driver for the final meetings at Silverstone and Brands Hatch. The British Touring Car Championship has been at the forefront of UK motorsport in monitoring drink driving behaviour, after implementing new standards in monitoring drink driving this year with partner Alcosense, with all drivers and senior officials being breath-tested during race weekends as of the Oulton Park meeting onwards.
I'm not sure what the point of pleading "not guilty" is, surely he'll have been shown the readings, how can you contest that?
As for the spare seat, I can already hear the "get Paul O'Neill in there" sentiments.
