I'm a bit late to this thread for Donny but some great racing! Shame Cook and Smith clashed or could have been a great race long battle.
Been very impressed with PMR actually, made great strides this season.
Was I right in hearing in a grid Welch are going for a stock engine rather than their own or did they just mean building another own engine? Would be interesting to see how they could do with some reliability.

Andy's car will have the standard BTCC engine but Dan is continuing with his own.Been very impressed with PMR actually, made great strides this season.

So rd3 kicks of this weekend at the super fast thurxton track. No soft tyre used for this weekend so maybe a chance to see a race weekend with the new cars without the tyre lottery of the soft tyre.
Think Honda and bmr will be strong here along with the mgs closely following them but anything could happen and with a mix bag of weather for the weekend its all up for grabs.
One driver not there is alex martin as he has just had a back operation.

Truly gutted I can't make it for the first time since I started going in 2001. Especially as the action has been so good this year! Hopefully I can make it to Silverstone or Brands GP at the end of the season.
Got to agree about the Hondas. They have been bloody quick there with no straight line speed over the last few years, so now they have some poke they should grab a few more wins!

Thats not what Autosport are saying:A plan for ex-Formula 1 driver Martin Donnelly to make his British Touring Car Championship debut at Thruxton this weekend has failed.
AUTOSPORT understands the former Lotus F1 man had been lined up by the Infiniti Support our Paras Racing team to drive one of its Q50s for the rest of the season.
However, it is believed that British Formula 3 and Formula 3000 race winner Donnelly is now unlikely to race this weekend, though the reason is unknown.
It is also unclear who he would have replaced, or what the team will now do for Thruxton and beyond - though AUTOSPORT understands current drivers Derek Palmer Jr and Richard Hawken have contracts that run to the end of 2015.
Donnelly's potential move into the BTCC is now uncertain but the Northern Irishman told AUTOSPORT he was keen to be involved with the project.
"The paras are very brave men who have gone out and put their lives on the line for the likes of us," Donnelly said.
"They've sustained injuries in their career and in my career as a professional racing driver I sustained likewise injuries.
"If we could make it through together and be successful it would make a really good story."

The Paras team's BTCC debut has been difficult so far, with Palmer's 18th in race three at Brands its best result, while Hawken only joined at Donington after a parts supply problem left the team running one Q50 at the opening round.
Donnelly, 51, had been lined up because the team wanted a driver with more experience to aid its development.
It is believed the squad is keen on Donnelly because his recovery from the crash in qualifying for the 1990 Spanish Grand Prix, which ended his F1 career, ties in with the motive behind the paras-inspired team.
Donnelly sustained severe injuries in the crash, particularly to his legs, but he returned to racing later that decade and has since contested a variety of categories, competing in the Lotus Cup UK alongside his son Stefan last year.

The print edition of AUTOSPORT went to print when Donnelly was racing - then things changed. That's why the web story differs.
I looked on the Autosport website yesterday morning and again last night and it said he was not racing thats why I posteted.The actual magazine was a few days old and there it may have talked about him racing before a deal was concluded.If both original drivers have a contract for the whole season and want to race I guess its difficult for the team to replace them.It seams fairly obvious that in the BTCC you need at least one experienced drivers in a team so to hire two rookies seamed a bit silly to me and will always be running at the back of the grid all season.

I'm glad he is driving having met him a couple of times at LOT he is top guy and still a great driver it will be good to see him out in a competitive series - let's hope they can give him a decent car to show the young ones what he can do!DanielSan said:

The ‘Support Our Paras’charity is a fantastic cause but as you have proved to be unprofessional and dishonorable I certainly would not give a donation to you at a race meeting and ask people to donate on the ‘Support Our Paras’website.
