More viewers so priority goes where the money is ... for the advertisers. Simple basics of commercial TV operation interests.

Say what you like about BBC with all its faults both on sport coverage and perceived "lefty bias", watching their ever fewer sporting events coverage like today's Canadian GP ( which I enjoyed ) free of any pressures from commercial breaks means I will always support the TV Licence/Tax whatever it's called unless it goes uber-greedy like the cartel riddled power and energy supply organs since privatisation.

Back on track. Watched the first two BTCC races and found them more processional than some F1 races. Did not bother to come in from working on the cars for the third race... Did I miss much ?
I missed the first race, but from the replays it looked a little sketchy in places. I'd be interested in seeing a proper replay of the Avensis being put into the pit wall, for example.

Race Two was honestly a bit dull, the finish was interesting but it's almost like Oulton Park was too small a circuit for that race. I guess that just comes down to Plato blocking the road though.

Race Three was pretty good, but it can't have been that eventful because I'm struggling to remember it. IMO the Carrera Cup and Ginetta races were more exciting than the main event this weekend.

I saw both of these moves on telly and agree with you, shocking driving.
All weekend he looked like he could barely drive it. Coming out of Island Hairpin he could barely get the power down without being all over the trick. Genuinely looked like he doesn't belong anywhere near a race car this weekend

He had an 'entertaining' track record in Porsches too. Rumour has it that the insurance premium went up by about 20% the following season based mostly on how many shells he went through!

First visit to Oulton Park, lovely place. Took my 3 year old daughter and she loved it, especially the 'lellow' (yellow) cars in the Ginettas.

Not been to the BTCC since about 2010, and prior to that was the brilliant super tourer era. The BTCC was a tad processional, but had a great day.

Confirmed in Autosport, that Priaulx will skip the Rockingham round, and race at Paul Ricard.

Highlights from Oulton on ITV4 Freeview Channel 24 w.e.f. 12:40 to 14:15 this afternoon. Raining all morning so nothing done outside and a session on the couch will enable me to rest the old joints. ... smile

Btcc arrives at croft for the next 3 races before the summer break. Nick Hamilton will make his debut this weekend with the amd run audi s3.
Will bmw mount a challenge at there favourite circuit to gain back some points after a poor outing at oulton park.

Plato will be full with ballest for the first race so will be interesting to see how he gets on with that.

Well he isn't slight in build anyway so it's just more of the same - expect to see him give cars in front of him a little(/lot of) extra momentum going into corners so they push wide.

Still it could get exciting if he does it to Matt Neal or (God's gift) Priaulx!

I didn't think it was a Jensen but couldn't put my finger on what it is.

So what's the other shell in background ?
Aston DBS and I'm pretty sure Ferrari 250 GTE from the shape of the rear window.

Oh and I missed race 1 because my Sky series link couldn't work it all out!

Interesting how people perceive this "guest driver" thing? All the money the real teams pour into making sure they keep to the terms of their TOCA licence, to agree to make sure they have funding to appear at every meet, but a "guest driver" can pick and choose?

Really? He's already proved without any shadow of a doubt that full ballast means little to his abilities.

Isnt that what a guest driver is a non scoring driver doing selected rounds toca/gow kept one back for this very reason. Im a huge plato fan not doubting his abilities but with historically bmw being very quick here then be interesting to see how he gets on.

For anyone travelling up this weekend, it looks like there's some fairly major roadworks on the A1, I don't know whose bright idea that was

They're widening the A1, I don't think the BTCC weekend was factored into the (3 year) plan....

So far there haven't been too many issues (crashes aside) but be aware that they close the Scotch Corner to Leeming stretch overnight, from around 8pm so if you're leaving late, head up/down the A167 depending on whether you're going north or south.

Good to see Max Coates (local boy, knows Croft well) in a BTCC car, even if it's only the Para car. He showed a lot of promise in Ginetta Jrs but has never had the budgets to capitalise.
