Anglesey would be a perfect addition to BTCC.

Mallory park would be great. The races would certainly be fast and frantic

I like anglesey but for btcc no chance. No infrastructure and traffic wise would be virtually impossible to get in and out with big numbers.

Also, from an overtaking perspective it would make knockhill look like spa.....!

What's Mondello like these days, they raced BTCC there in the early 2000s.

But with the recent talk of the easing of racing on public roads by local authorities in the UK, why not a city race, revitalise the Birmingham Superprix or another. Milton Keynes perhaps, it's got lot's of wide straight roads and the BTTC cars and Red Bull F1 team have done displays there so the locals are prepared for it.

I agree that access would be very difficult but don't understand your other comments. It now has modern pits and race control, and the circuit is the second widest in the country. Plenty of over taking places.

Probably more suited to a Britisg GT meeting though, in terms of spectator numbers. Would look awesome on TV.

The best circuit in the country in my view.

/\ What he said.
There are plenty of overtaking opportunities at Anglesey, especially the International layout. More than at most circuits currently used.

Agreed on what both have said, pembrey is another option but again like the other need big money spent there specially with the pit garages. Maybe just maybe if the new track in south wales ever gets built don't think so myself would be ideally for btcc.

sorry mate, beg to differ. Access aside - toilets, catering, parking, actually getting there (including having HGV transporters). The circuit is plainly too short for overtaking unless the neal/plato method of simply flipping you out of the way is adopted.

Enjoyed many a track day there but I dont think it could cope with btcc just yet and british GT with its massive grids would also be prolematic IMHO

When did they stop the 'shoot outs' or was this a one off? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FNg-1ulHC7E

They should bring this kind of event back as an end of season event.

Apologies if its a repost, first time I've seen this video.

When did you last do a track day there, if you were talking about the old circuit I might agree but the current circuit is 1.5 in coastal configuration and 2.1 in the international config, and I've raced there In Tuscans a few times and there are plenty of overtaking opportunities, on the wide circuit.

getting there isnt too bad, it all motorway / DC from here in the midlands up to the last 5 miles or so.

A brilliant clip that, some proper racing. Still amazed the the late Keith O'dor's crash didn't even bring out a yellow flag....although I suppose it could be argued he was off the track!

I think you may be going to a different circuit than the rest of us!
Infrastructure wise, you are right.

That was utterly brilliant, no need to apologise even if it was as repost thumbup

The difference between this race and that of the following year is remarkable. Me,CH108 & our mate Dave were lucky enough to be amongst the 62,000 people packed into Donny that day, a figure helped in no small way by the inclusion in the Shoot-out of a certain Mr Mansell. We were watching by the Old Hairpin when Nige had his slight off.. The racing was almost as epic as the traffic on the way out.

I guess we can only look back wistfully at this golden era of BTCC before the authorities bottled it with Alfa.

Out of everything I watch Motorsport related Ginetta Juniors is my favorite. Great racing and always full of tussles. Far far more enjoyable than F1 that's for sure.

BTCC could learn from World Rallycross.

I'll keep it brief.

Last corner of last lap of final in Sweden last weekend,2 Swedes neck and neck FTW,Swede 2 nudges Swede 1 and goes

through to win.

I left there thinking Timmy Hansen the winner, nope, they turned it over and gave it to Mattias Ekstrom instead.

Clean racing is so much fairer.

I haven't seen it back on telly as I was still driving home when I think it was shown Monday night.

I wish they would grow a pair and penalise that worst offenders, get rid of the crap drivers and make it a fair fight for the title.

Thats just bashing the BTTC for the sake of it. You have taken an extreme and rare example where bumping / nudging (call it whatever) in rallycross was penalised. Manoeuvres like this happen in almost every corner of rallycross and have done so since it was relaunched a few years ago. Cars need plenty of their carbon fibre body parts replaced after nearly every race.

BTCC this year has been extremely clean bar a few nudges. BTCC haters dont know what to do with all their free which they would have usually spent blabbing on about plato / shedden / neal who have been fairly clean.
