You think he's able to just walk away from racing?

Thing is i can't see where he'd go away from btcc, no way a gt team would want him.
That's not true. Plenty of GT teams would welcome his money and put him alongside a Pro the same as any other gentleman driver...
That's if the tesco's money is still there, hasn't helped him get a drive so far this season.

Do you honestly think Tesco would be seen to be sponsoring motorsport this year (mega money, remember) in their current financial climate?

Depends on what was in their contact and if it's still running though, RBS were still sponsoring Williams when the st hit the fan because they had no way out of the deal.

Any KX Academy entries in the lower series? That would probably give you an idea if they're pulling the plug on that side of things.

If you look at the KX Academy website I'd say it's pretty clear it doesn't exist anymore.

That's quite true. They could still have another year contracted. Unlikely, I think, as it has been stated for months that the fuelsave thing finishes in March. But even if they did have another twelve months or more of contract, they'd just pay the agreed amount and walk away without the sponsorship. There's no way they are going to be seen as putting money into motorsport any more.

Fair point. I've done a bit of searching earlier but couldn't find anywhere that says if the deal is up or not. Guess it'll be one of those things we know if/when Plato appears in a car with Tesco written on it or not.

Why not? It's a car that has potential but hasn't yet had a quick and experienced driver behind the wheel. If they get a driver who ticks the boxes, no reason it can't be competitive.
That car, underneath Moffat, came on massively in the second half of the season. They were hampered by changing engine supplier mid season which sent them back to base boost for another 2 race meetings.

If Neate managed to get it in the top 10 with the old engine then it must be a quick car

The previous engine was fast when it was running properly but it was changed (to a Swindon) purely for reliability.

Seemed to be a good move.

Just been posted by official BTCC.

'Tune in to the official BTCC YouTube Channel at 8pm tonight (17 February) for the latest 2015 announcement!'

Quite intrigued as it could be a number of things

Neate never got the car in the top ten.

[managed a one off 11th in qualifying at Silverstone then returned to his more usual position of low teens / early 20s / DNF]

There's going to be 4 BMR cars at Thruxton tomorrow, so I reckon.....

....the announcement tonight is going to be Turks and Plato at BMR.

Now that will make for some interesting team meetings! Who is going to be regarded as No 1 driver?

Plato at BMR has been a dead cert for the last few weeks I believe. If Turkington is there with him as well then that will be very interesting.

Would be good to see them on the grid BUT...

I don't see BMR at front running team.

Really hope I am wrong, but they are good (Aron Smith did well a few times last year), but I see WSR, 888 and Team Dynamics being the teams to be in.

Anyway, looking forward to it.

Plato tweeting that he really is going to have the year off... bullst!

If him and Turkington do end up at BMR then I could imagine it being split into 2 teams.

BMR have employed Turkington's engineer Kevin Berry (also ex-888 tech director) , surely a sign that they are aiming high by recruiting good staff.
