And Tesco are now the main sponsor of Matt Prior's new cycling team, swapping four wheels and an engine for two wheels and some legs.

Well, you all called it.

Plato and Turkington at BMR.
You couldn't get much more different personalities and racing styles, should be fascinating!

Is the VW front or rear wheel drive (excuse my BTCC ignorance?)

Plato and Turks will not be in the same team.BMR will be Turks,Smith,Scott and Goff.

Platos only option is with a new team or as he says a year off and if he does that I cannot see him coming back.
Never say never! wink

Yep read that after posting that comment so plato/turks/smith/scott the strongest line up for a long time. Not bad from a guy starting out a few years ago in the seat leon.

Would be good to see them on the grid BUT...

I don't see BMR at front running team.

Really hope I am wrong, but they are good (Aron Smith did well a few times last year), but I see WSR, 888 and Team Dynamics being the teams to be in.

Anyway, looking forward to it.
run from a farm, owned by a farmer... despite signing Menu last year this is a major leap up the ladder. Interestingly they are based in the same small town as Hugh Chamberlain was, although that was some time ago, I wonder if they have any of Hugh's ex staff?

Who or what is BMr and what cars did they run last year / what cars this year?
Why would Plato and Turkington be in an unknown team?

Plato tweeting that he really is going to have the year off...
Platos tweeting is just marketing and very well done.

Tyrrell F1 was run from a wood yard.

Yes, Hugh hasn't run a team for years but I'm sure he has plans in place if the right opportunity comes along, and I hope it does soon!

Gutted by this, I've always thought of Turks as a BMW man (yes I know he had a couple of races in a Chevy in WTCC) I know the writings been on the wall since Collard was re-signed by WSR earlier in the week ,but I'd rather Turks not race in BTCC this year than race in another car.

Wow, clearly I should check this forum more often, since I didn't see that one coming at all! This should be a mighty interesting season, the rivalry within that team could be enormous, given Plato comes across as having a rather large ego, and I have a suspicion that he may not turn out to be the fastest driver within that lineup, should be fun to watch.

Can't believe the deals Warren Scott can put together, considering how young the team is, last season was impressive enough, this lineup is amazing. Only slight disappointment is no Menu, it was great seeing him back last year, but I guess five cars with four top drivers would be getting ridiculous wink

It's BMW's own fault he's gone elsewhere. His loyalty has to be commended, but it was only ever going to hold him back.

The irony wasn't lost on me either, but that Chevy engine was about as reliable as an aftermarket warranty

So who is behind BMR and where does the funding come from? Wasn't Tony Gilham involved at some point?
They just seem to be a team that's come from nowhere to suddenly fielding 4 cars in 2014/2015 with big name drivers.

Just curious.
