Fair play to BMR, what a line up!
And they have chosen the UKs best Alloy Wheel Refurb company (that's me) to refurb all the alloys, did 14 for them yesterday, all gloss black, lots more next week.

They are ex Team hard cars. Heavily revised I understand.

Top work by the team, hope they are up there this year.

The BMW is going to be very strong.

Two of the cars were from team Hard, the other two were built by/for the team last year.

It's BMW's own fault he's gone elsewhere. His loyalty has to be commended, but it was only ever going to hold him back.
It's a private team, nothing to do with BMW. The closest they get is occasionally borrowing cars for shows but they don't put money into the racing or have anything to do with development or driver choice.

I think with the addition of Prilaux this year, who is a Factory BMW driver, there must have been some deal arranged with BWM for this to happen? To me it seems like they have done something like porsches arrangement in GT where they have lots of customer teams who get the factory Porsche drivers racing with them.

So who is behind BMR and where does the funding come from? Wasn't Tony Gilham involved at some point?
They just seem to be a team that's come from nowhere to suddenly fielding 4 cars in 2014/2015 with big name drivers.

Just curious.
The Scott family is a local (Buntingford, Herts)farming family with a lot of land all around the town, Trading name is Scott and Scott so I guess there is a brother/ sister partnership.
Warren Scott was involved in superbikes before turning to cars but last year was the big expansion with four cars and signing Menu.... nothing could have topped that I would have thought but have now had to think again.
No one has mentioned that they have also started a Clio cup team for this year with plans for 3 or 4 cars and have already singed a deal to run Ashley Sutton, a former school mate of my son - (Jealous is not the word in our household!) for this season.

I'm well aware of that, I was just trying to explain the situation to the BMW fan who can't accept Turkington in another car.

There's a car show in the town centre at Buntingford and Scott took one of the cars there (2013 I think as 2014 clashed with a BTCC round). Pointless fact but that's when I worked out BMR was Buntingford Motor Racing.

They have one of the body shells at MJ Warners body shop nr Buntingford. My god what a work of art it is, seeing how the cage is made inside and seeing how the shell is made stronger, simply stunning.

Scott drove for team hard in 2013 in the insignia the team had 2 passats built for that year and two insignia both built by thorny motorsport through 2011/2012.
Team hard/gilham business went tits up so scott bought the cars 2 passats and 2 insngias last year and the equipment.
Running menu/smith in the Passat and scott and goff in the insignias. Half way through the season they ran all 4 cars as passats the insignias being cannibalised for it.

Thats the very short version of events that I can remember.

Tbh im not that bothered about menu he along with gio didn't really do much last year apart from later on in the year but smith outclassed him throughout the year.
Plato and turks do respect each other to a certain extent so im sure they will get on fine and even with smith run in with plato back in 2012 is all under the water and smith will do well with 2 champs as team mates.

Its going to be interested to see what happens if all 3 drivers are in with contention of the title come end of the year.

But given that they will be up against 888, WSR and the Honda boys - it is a pretty big stretch to imagine that they will have more than one in the frame come the end of the season surely?

There is a good write up in this weeks Motorsport news about the team, they sound quite serious and have recruited engineers from both WSR and 888 to help progress the team.

It's great that Turkington as current champion is back on the grid this year, not only is he one of the quickest drivers but he is also one of the cleanest drivers and typically does not use the Plato push to pass type moves that ruin the BTCC.

Jack Goff has attracted a lot of Twitter attention. Have his chances on the grid now nose-dived after yesterday's news?

I couldnt agree more with this comment. I'll be frank, I'm not the biggest fan of Plato's method of overtaking.......tap and pass or whatever you want to call it, Just think its a little unclean. Yes I know this is touring cars and contact is generally accepted, but feel that one or two drivers idea of a pass needs working on a little lol.

Did think though whilst looking at BMR's promo pics of Turkington and Plato together, How real are the smiles?? Or more to the point, how much is Turkington thinking 'you blatantly shoved me off into the gravel during the last meeting at brands and now I'm having to fake how happy I am to be in the same team as you' Cynical?? Me?? Well maybe a bit!!

I don't think Turk really cares who his team is, as he didn't have much choice and doesn't have (guessing) that much money behind him.

Guessing he is probably hoping to be near enough to JP in the first few rounds to find his feet in FWD, and them probs expects (as all drivers do!) to come out on top later.

The same goes for JP - but guessing (again) he probs knows Turks is rapid and a probs the best driver. The early rounds for JP might be critical.

Any news of times from the testing? How is Prilaux getting on?

Just to clear up some confusion.

Warren Scott never drove an Insignia for Team HARD. In fact, he didn't drive anything for Team HARD - his VW was run by his own team alongside Gilham's bunch in 2013.

Would be good to see them on the grid BUT...

I don't see BMR at front running team.

Really hope I am wrong, but they are good (Aron Smith did well a few times last year), but I see WSR, 888 and Team Dynamics being the teams to be in.

Anyway, looking forward to it.
BMR have employed Turkington's engineer Kevin Berry (also ex-888 tech director) , surely a sign that they are aiming high by recruiting good staff.
Kevin Berry is a talented race engineer, and a nice guy also.

Is it just me, or does anyone else reckon Collard might be in with a genuine title shout if he sorts qualifying?

He's in the right car, but he's too inconsistent. He seemed to spend half of last year being beaten or at least matched by Foster and then having half the year where he was up towards the front.

I can see it being one of the Honda's again this year, purely because they're the only 2 top drivers who haven't changed cars/teams.

I thought Honda was ditching the tourer for this year and going with (possibly) the new Type R, or at least back to hatchback shape? Yes Collard can have a meeting where he's on it, racks up a couple of podiums & a 6th place, then the next meeting he's 12th.

Andy Jordan could be worth a shout in the MG, the Motorbase Focus seems too inconsistent, Priaulx will take too long to adjust to be a championship contender this year, Tordoff hmm, adapting to rear wheel drive but he did some Porsches I believe.

IF they can make the VW's fast and consistent then I can see Plato/Turks being in the mix. How will the new Ininiti's get on? Little experience all round, but can't see them being too divvy.

Best part is, we really don't have a clue!
