I don't doubt it Ollie...but you know as well as I do that it's often used as an excuse by certain unscrupulous stbags. Or maybe I'm just bitter
Oh I sympathise completely and definitely could compete in the bitterness stakes Some of the suppliers are fairly notorious in terms of lead times though, even among the teams they want to supply! It's merely exaggerated for the ones they don't want to supply as they get put to the bottom of the pile!
"We experienced a late technical problem today which, after detailed analysis, has unfortunately resulted in the second car now not being in a position to race at Brands Hatch," Palmer Snr explained.
Cynical me

Thought they'd said earlier in the week that the second car isn't going to be there? Plus I thought Infiniti were funding this themselves? Can't really see a manufacturer backed team being short on cash."We experienced a late technical problem today which, after detailed analysis, has unfortunately resulted in the second car now not being in a position to race at Brands Hatch," Palmer Snr explained.

One car or two cars it's another manufacturer and for a properly good cause so good luck to them.
Only two more days Will be at Brands on Saturday and going to attempt to park on the Southbank again so if anybody spots us (probably blue Mazda 6 estate with a zombie apocalypse sticker or a filthy silver 172 with a PH sticker) do feel free to say hello!
I assume the Passats will have a proper title sponsor by Saturday? Unusual to keep it under wraps? Maybe it's VW

Brian said it was a parts supply problem.Where did you get the info about Infiniti funding the team?
By the way, I'm not arguing or knocking anyone but I would like to cut through all the bullst.

Might be my imagination but I'm sure when the the whole thing was announced it was being backed my Infiniti themselves. Where did you get the info about Infiniti funding the team?

Interesting that the chairman refers to them being a manufacturer team. I read elsewhere on the internet (so it must be true) that Infiniti only supplied the shells. (Much like the so called MG team). There's so much smoke and mirrors. Teams like to be associated with a big name sponsor as it attracts other sponsors even if the big name doesn't bring any/much money (same goes for TOCA itself). Quick Google search brings this up - http://m.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/116373
Anyway, if Infiniti were serious about BTCC I would have expected them to approach an established team...

Throw a load of money at it getting an RML-type organisation to build your car and make it competitive bringing in lots of experienced people to run the car and get the best out of testing and haul it up the grid. Need some tasty drivers too for this one. Exposure is as good as you could hope for if the results go well, bit embarrassing otherwise.
Throw a few shells and a lot less money at the guys in question. Be seen to be helping a worthy cause, acknowledge there's some learning going to be done. Get decent exposure and plaudits for being involved regardless of where the car finishes.
Given they are a brand with no real pretence of sporty cars, the second option makes a lot more sense.
No Dan Welch at Brands, he has broken his foot!

Does he ever have any good luck?

The British Touring Car Championship opener at Brands Hatch will feature 27 cars after Dan Welch was ruled out with a broken foot.
Proton driver Welch is on crutches after twisting his ankle and breaking two bones on Wednesday while preparing the team truck for the weekend.
His absence, combined with Infiniti running one car, Motorbase's withdrawal from the first half of the season and Nicolas Hamilton's debut not coming until Croft means the championship will he without five of its 32 entries for the first round.
So 27 BTCC cars and 30 Carrera Cup cars, who would have thought that after last years disappointing grids for the Porsches and Clios. How many Clios at Brands Hatch.
