Regarding the earlier post re CCC on the back of rally cars during the WRC in Wales,. Cambridge Car Club man start/finish controls and when at a finish control usually have time to write CCC in the mud at rear of the car. My mate Kevin and i assisted them them the year that Petter Solberg won (2003) i think and we were seen on telly carrying out said duty!!

Richard

Can't believe it's been a week already....

We had a superb time over the 3 days. Early start on Friday and headed to Hafren - as we were a little late ended up parking still on the tarmac before the forest - I spotted the stage on the map and after a 5 minute walk up a field we were at the top end of Hafren. Only saw 1 group of marshalls and probably 10 people!! Great views across the valley. The entertainment arranged by the RAF between runs was good - couple of Typhoons then some tail chasing Hawks....

The current WRC cars on full chat are just amazing. We found a great sections just before the quarry in Hafren so we could see the cars for about 500 yards. They disappeared from view around a decent right hander with a big drop - for the first VW someone was stood on the outside of the bend - who may have needed a change of underwear - the shear speed and angle of the two Polo's was nuts. This photo is not the best as it's taken on full zoom - but it gives a good idea-think it's Hirv.

Saturday was good fun as we moved between stages - started at Aberhirnant, parked at the head of the car park and walked up from the finish. Again saw probably 10 spectators - had a good chat with a lad who will be out co-driving in the BTRDA next year. From there headed to Clocaenog Main - which was the first time we seem to come across other people watching the event.

The marshals were fantastic - really helpful, good advice and not over bearing - not easy when there are various drunk people wondering around a live stage - especially around the double hairpin section. Found some greats spots to view. Finally did Alwen on Sunday - which again didn't seem over stacked. Found some great viewing places, headed off into the stage - around junct 2 I think - where Calder Rescue were sitting - before heading back up the stage for the 2nd run.

Good to see some great local talent out - thought Wilson looked smooth after such a break away, and Pryce was always on it when we saw him. But Dean Raftery looked quick every time we saw him as did Gus Greensmith - really impressed with him.

Off to look down the back of the sofa, to see if I can find the budget for next years National event, time to dust off the Scoob and have a go again soon.....woohoothumbup

A few pics - Internationals first:

The top guys were great through here - ALL of them tagged the bank on the way out of the corner.
