I think it's fair to say they can't win either way, and that sums it why it'll struggle to be a success...

Probably unable to make it up the hill more than a few times (too much power loss?) or just too long a circuit for them. They are going along the run off from the tunnel/chicane then what is an incredibly tight U turn back onto the F1 track to Tabac.

See the white truck, that's where they will be going, cutting out the hill, then doing the u turn at the end.

The technology is improving all the time, literally month by month. I think the moment they relax the rules and allow the teams to design their own cars you'll see this take off.

They already reckon that within 5 years they will be able to inductively charge the cars as they drive, at least on the slower sections of the circuit or in the pitlane. Might make for some interesting strategy - or at least get us closer to 'Wipeout'.

Sure the cars dont sound exciting, the tyre squeal is annoying, the tracks arent great but the racing has been entertaining, close and the cars look a challenge to drive, i enjoy it.

First time I've watched this and sound wise it's like watching a nintendo video game from the 80's

But no doubt at all those last laps were great fun to watched. I was actually entertained.... Even if I did have to sit making my own engine noises.

That was an enjoyable half hour.....more like a pushing and shoving btcc race than a single seater race

I enjoyed watching that, parents made a few remarks about it reminding them of watching FF1600 back in the 70’s. If the championship can keep going for the next few years then it may well turn into something special, time will tell.

Nothing wrong with the racing its self today, very close and unpredictable. Just a shame about the mess with the safety car and the lapped traffic.

With oil prices dropping through the floor,I suspect that manufacturers will be less eager to concentrate on fuel savings. For instance, in the US Large trucks and SUVS are suddenly hot. An eco race for petrol heads might not be relevant.

Batteryheads?
Greenheads?

I would not watch an F1 race with the power turned down, and noiseless racing removes a crucial component. Maybe I'm just old.

You think that will stay that way for long dream on as soon as they get bored of annoying Russia supply will be cut and prices will go back up enjoy it while it last.

Formula e has never said it is trying to be the next f1 its a series to promote and grow development with electric cars which have gained popularity over the last few years so it was always going to happen.

Yes it has some big flaws atm but im guessing f1 did when that first started. When I was younger i used to race remote control cars and these do remind me of that just full sized cars instead.

I do think that prices will rise but it will be a long time before they return to recent levels. Technology keeps on unlocking new sources of supply, and, at a guess, about $75/bbl will become the norm for the next ten years. This is the period in which Formula E has to catch on, not the distant future.
