What ever happened to the 3 peugeot 205 t16 pikes peak cars?
Discussion
It shows 1 of the two yellow 205t16 pikes peak getting transformed into a 405t16 pikes peak. I have been reliably informed the third 205 pikes peak car was modified into a big winged white rally cross car and was stolen and never seen again to this day. So the two 405t16 pikes peak cars are 205t16s.

My guess is that might be Philippe Wambergue's car that he won the 1989 French Rallycross Championship with. I don't ever recall a car (his or anyone else's) being stolen though. This is Wambergue's works supported rallycross 205T16 in 1989.
Mmmmm, this is exactly what I thought and I had prooved it To my self, I thought I was a right clever so and so But from a reliable source it's totally wrong, as this car was in the Peugeot France museums and is still about. The peugeot museum them selves don't know what happened to the third car being stolen. On my quest to find out what happened to these cars , even though I thought I knew the answer and was correct, I contacted'Ari Vatanen who I think thought I was talking about the 405 pikes peak and did not know the 405 is actually a 205 ( I don't know how though??), Jean Todt, no answer , Emmanuelle from the Peugeot museum and the work shop manager, very helpful and Chris from the Group b club via some one that owns a 405t16 pikes peak, very help full.

What a shame 'Uncle' Des is no longer with us, as he'd either know or would know who to ask and get an answer (from Todt for example) With regard to the rallycross cars
The first one was white with a big wing on the back, might have been a Pikes Peak car not sure, but it was driven by Guy Frequelin in I think 1987 or 88?
Wambeurge used the car above, and later on a guy called Jean Beuzelin used a totally yellow car backed by Peugeot to win the French series, but this one was a very rally similar E2, maybe not one of the PP cars.

Im on my phone so not searched or anything but with the mention of rally cross I remember someone running in the british championship at Brands Hatch late 80's in a big winged 205 Marlboro red and white paint job his surname sounded like Ski but that wont be the spelling of it. Might be worth looking into.

That was Terje Schie, and his 205T16E2 was the car that Seppo Niittymaki used to win the 1987 ERC, Seppo had works backing for the 87 season but decided to retire after winning the ERC that year and sold the car to Schie in early 1988.It wasn't one of the Pikes Peak cars.

People complain that PH is turning from a car forum into Mumsnet.
This thread reaffirms my love for it.
I have no idea where the pikes peak 205's are, but the sheer level of knowledge on 3 pretty obscure rally cars that were driven up a big hill which no-one outside of being an "enthusiast" has ever heard of, and being able to reference a sun visor and everyone understand why - is amazing.

Hi all just recieved this from Jean Todt. Its nothing new as we know what happened to these cars but I thought I would share it with you any way and it was very nice of him to reply.
Dear Sir,
Further to your mail, Mr Jean Todt have asked me to investigate about the 205 Turbo 16 Pikes Peak cars.
As you may know the 205 and the 405 Turbo16 shared the same engine and chassis. After the first participation at the Pikes Peak hill climb in 1987, the three 205 became three 405Turbo16 the following years by changing the bodywork. So the 205's does not exist anymore.
We don’t have much information about the technical data but the power was approximatively 500hp in 1987.
Kind regards.
