Anyone going to Red Kite this weekend?
Not expecting many people as it is a Sunday.
I'll be there filming for my Youtube channel.

Might skip Rally Cwm Gwendraeth, I'm doing Wyedean. Then I haven't decided on Mid Wales and Tour of Epynt.
Seeing as you mentioned it...got a link to your channel?
I love rally vids. I used to take photos but sold all my equipment (as in professional equipment not point and click)
Now I just go to enjoy.

I think that Yaris looks truly awful. I've never thought of the current generation of cars to be modified shopping trolleys but that thing is.

There are aome great looking cars in current motorsport - sadly, very few of them are in the WRC. The Polo looks good, but the i20 & Yaris are awful. Fortunately, the proposed i20 Coupe looks quite good.

I've noticed this for a few seasons now- why are the exhaust exit pipes, particularly of Fords, glowing bright red as they drive away from view? Its even visible in daylight.

it is the cataclismic converter, chucking a load of fuel through it, and basically setting fire to it. they don't last long apparently.

Brilliant to see Toyota confirmed, but the Yaris just looks far too small and ridiculous! I showed my work mates a picture and their reaction was "really?!".

I do wonder if it is a sign of things to come with the 2017 regs? I hope not, at minimum I want cars like the Focus, Golf and i30 etc.

The cat is located right at the back of the exhaust to minimise the restriction, cat gets mega hot so you see it glowing.

Quite frankly, whilst it's always good to see some good looking cars in the WRC, it's not the be all and end all. We should be grateful the likes of VW, Hyundai and Toyota have committed or will commit to the WRC, it wasn't that long ago it looked like Citroen and Ford might pull the plug and the WRC disappear altogether.

So perhaps stop whining tongue out and celebrate the fact that the WRC is looking healthier than it has since the halcyon days when Subaru, Mitsubishi, Ford, Toyota, Skoda, Peugeot, Seat etc were competing ? smile

I don't actually mind the Toyota, well front on anyway. and when you get over the sheer size of this 'supermini' compared to the family hatchback Corolla, those box arches are just not right. looks like a really bad home made wide arch kit made out of cardboard boxes.

I'm curiousas to who Toyota could poach to help develop the car VW-Ogier & Hyundai-Neuville style. Or it could be a retirement plan for the likes of Mikko etc etc.

M-Sport also fit a mesh protector up the pipe to prevent stones and garbage going up the zorst when they have an off, its this bit of mesh and the cat that gives the glow.

AFAIK Sarrazin has been doing the development testing so far, but he's more of a tarmac specialist so I imagine they will get someone else in. How about a comeback from Petter Solberg?

I think the Polo and Fiesta look great, especially in tarmac spec but have to agree - this Yaris looks too whimpy. Isn't the Yaris an A segment car where-as the Polo and Fiesta are B segment?

Think I read that Sebastian Lindholm is helping development on the gravel spec - there's a name from the past!

Would love a return of Petter! If anyone has the big bucks deal to entice him back I think Toyota could. however I also believe the longer he's away the less likely that will be.

Have to agree, I could see him returning for the occasional rally (he still does classic stuff in his Escort anyway), but most of his focus seems to be on rallycross these days.

Give it another 5 years and I wouldn't be surprised to see him more focussed on his son's driving than his own - the kid is showing some potential at this stage, winning crosskart championships already.

If things carry on as they are for another year or two I think there could be more rally drivers going to World Rallycross for a bigger wage packet.

the WRC does not need Petter, and I hope he does not deprive any of the current lot a drive. He is not quick enough any more.

Which was still hardly a patch on the real halcyon days when, Ford, Datsun, Fiat, Lancia, Toyota, Opel, Renault, Mercedes, Porsche, Vauxhall, Peugeot, Saab, Mitsubishi, Talbot, Audi, Mazda, Triumph, Volvo, Skoda & Lada were competing in the WRC wink
