Well that Citroen above is the first of its kind I've seen in Ireland so its by no means a common occurrence.
This video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sxwKZLfsfQI shows how fast some of the stages were, 102 MPH in a full historic BDA isn't bad going! This was the stage I was on, it was run as 2/4/6.

How come there's so many Fiestas over here but not the Citroen or Pug equivalent? Simply because the fiesta is built over here?
M-Sport make their money from customer cars, Citroen/Pug don't really have a massive privateer base for the cars, unless big names are associated like Kubica/Solberg/Raikonen.

to put it in to perspective -

Citroen DS3 WRC/RRC cars are a total of 18 chassis

Ford Fiesta RS WRC/RRC total 43 chassis and growing

I'm also made to believe the fiesta is a cheaper package than any of the others.

Worth noting that M-sport have made over 100 R5 fiestas in 18 months as well. Don't know the figures for the equivalent 208 or DS3.

quite a few of the fiestas started as R5 cars too and got upgraded to RRC/WRC spec too.

Had a quick nose and cant get prices for either a DS3 or a Polo.
It's only really M-Sport who have published prices, but given how much they rely on private sales they kinda have too

M-Sport rely on customer cars as a business. Whether that is a R2, R200, R5, R5+, WRC or RX car..... And they also build and sell the GT3 Bentley....
VW are in it to win, and have no interest in selling customer cars.
I must admit, it would be nice to see a bit more variety on the stages in the UK; most of the WRCars are either Focus or Fiesta... Both of which are the least impressive, sound wise.

I disagree - Evos are the worst sounding by a long shot. I quite like the current crop of Fiestas in looks and sound. DS3 R5 is forgettable and I've not seen a polo so I can't comment.

I was talking about WRCars - I agree about the Gp N Lancers, they don't sound great. And the best sounding UK rallycar is now banned. Fortunately, I think the Stratos could be out.

News from Sweden.....

Well its confirmed, even tho its been less likely as the week has gone on due to family issues today's events confirmed it. I wont be at the Wyedean saturday frown have a good day everyone and get soem pics/vids for us non attendees.

I was only going to see Damian get spanked in the woods (and hear his feeble excuse along the lines of "I'm not comfortable on gravel yet") and hear the Stratos through the woods again.

Guess I'll just have to have my wrgb vid of Perez on loop wink

not sure if Perez has 2 Stratos' (Strati?) but his facebook page has the car set up for tarmac testing!? https://www.facebook.com/steve.perezrallying?fref=...

He was also miffed about being seeded so low on the list and talk of him taking the focus out now.

Why is he miffed? There's a lot of quick cars around him isn't there? I know he's a past winner, but although glorious (and one of the reasons to go) I don't see that car in the top 20 overall.

Eta - Stephen Simpson is seeded 49th in the fiesta S2000

I think he was having a bit of an ego moment and just chose to do it on a public forum. His main complaint is that some of 2wd the cars ahead of him are with Wyedean novices and he had a titfull of catching them in stage under similar circumstances on the RAC.

I don't know if they are going to run to seeded order or not however, as there's a mix of modern 4wd stuff seeded between some historics and 2wd cars, which could be a right ballache for everyone.
And the running order can change right up to the point the cars leave service so he may just be having a moan over nothing.
My moneys on Simpson having the award for highest climber over the 1st stage if he stays seeded in 49th!

Watching the Superspecial of Rally Sweden, and I found it a bit uninspiring. I know there is a need for them, but they make poor TV. Surely a short 'proper' stage would be better? Sometimes, those in charge don't help themselves - and choose stages which don't show the sport in the best light.

Think Harris and Perez are out. Bird winning, with Charlie Payne second.
