are they actually promoting??

I raised the question to Wales Rally GB on twitter a couple of days ago after they bombarded us with the media day tour. which covered north Wales, somewhere on the border and as south as Newtown. Now forgive me for maybe being a little grumpy at the mo due to returning insomnia, but doesn't everyone around the north know the rally is on there?

How come they cant make a stop off somewhere southern, like Builth Wells or the Brecon area. Then hop on over to a couple of major cities over the border?

Since they moved north they have effectively singled out all of us southerners. quite probably the same as used to happen when it was down here for the northerners.
But there's been no effort to engage experienced marshals and stage commanders to make the journey north to run stages. My old Stage commander was invited up the first year and so we went and ran the stage without fault, even receiving praise from FIA delegates for things we did, and then the next year heard nothing, until a week before when they came grovelling after the guy they gave it too pulled out for no particular reason?!
My motor clubs chairman has been asked to help set up the week leading too it, but he needs to sort his own accommodation, whihc is pretty much all booked out, unless he wants to sleep in the van WRC are providing for it!

To be honest, there doesn't seem to a big push to advertise it at all, even across the 'net which is cheap and widespread advertising, there's not really much info unless you go looking for it, I see much more advertising and info on national/clubman rallies.

I’m not sure what the Roadshow was trying to achive the other week. Taking it to places were it already goes; I;e preaching to the converted. I only saw pieces from rally journalists. Surely they should be trying to reach out to the non rally motorsport media/ followers.

been catching up on stuff with my access to WRC+. And I've got to say Jon Desborough really annoys me and puts me of watching when he's commentating. Just me?

If he's the guy who commentates the power stages, then no. It would be much better with Colin Clark!

Any news on pre-Wales Rally GB testing?

Also, anyone know how much shakedown is this year? Nothing online.

Seems like they've put up the price of stage tickets this year to make it 'simpler'?!

I assume purchasing a Forest stage ticket means entry to shakedown is included. £27 for a forest ticket in advance and as many stages for that day as you can get. Or £30 on the gate of the stage you get to and for that stage only. Unless they plan on shafting everyone as they get to shakedown and only allowing entry on the gate

I was having a walk in a Cumbrian forest earlier this week and bumped into Elfyn, Ott and a Fiesta WRC smile

Craig Breen wins the Swiss round of the Erc today by over a minute, but 4 hours after so relieves a 2 minute penalty for using 2 too many tyres...

Been a disaster of a season; the car/ team have let him down. If it's not the engine, it's now too many sets of tyres......

Time for him to cut his losses.

gutted for Breen. He's a much better driver than the results allow him.

I'm not sure he could cut his losses as he's getting a paid drive at Pug. there doesn't seem to be much more of an option for him in the WRC or its support categories. Sticking with them could pay off if the PSA Group do stay with WRC.

Ohh and also ITS 12 DAYS TO RALLY GB!!!! sorry for shouting, I'm rather excited about it biggrin

Craig can only hope a seat opens up at Skoda if Lappi gets snapped up by a WRC team. Another year at Peugeot is pointless really, especially if still run by Saintéloc! Are the tyres not scanned at the end of each stage like in the WRC? It's ridiculous that it took over 4 hours for error to be spotted!

I'll be out standing in the forest and praying its slightly drier than last year. That wasn't that much fun.

With Wales Rally GB upon us next week, we've dropped our rally special tees down to £14.99 until the end of this week for anyone interested: http://goo.gl/BH1vT9

We're also going to be selling a selection of tees, stickers, mugs and hoodies at our Sunday Service in Llandudno so if anyone is coming along and has any special requests let me know!
