Normally you'd want to get into a safe position 1-2 hours before the first car. I don't know if they're allowing people to walk on the stage to get to a viewing point away from the allocated 'spectator areas'. Any marshals on here will have a better idea.
I just hope it's not going to be packed 'sheep pens' were you can't see much....

The last 2 years i've been and found little resistance in most places. Be friendly to Marshalls and show them your not idiots and they'll be more relaxed with what you do.I just hope it's not going to be packed 'sheep pens' were you can't see much....
The worst i experienced was at Dyfi last year, at the entrance to the stage from the carpark, even 2 hours before the first cars, the Marshalls weren't letting people walk down the stage, they insisted you walked up an ambankment, but everyone was then just walking back down to the stage 200m further down. It was clearly safer to walk down the stage at that time as the embankment was full of tree stumps and low branches.
These were't normal marshals though, more paid security guards who had never been to the event before and were following instructions to the book.
Just get they're in plenty of time before the first cars to walk wherever you want.

What is it with the Citroens having that light pointing down from the bumper on the left? Almost looks like a fog like has broken and is pointing to the ground, but every Citroen does it.The light is to do with data logging and is used by the VW/Citroen/Hyundai teams. Only ones I've not seen so far using it is M-Sport.
Re: walking the stage - I've not been told or received any info from my chief that speccys are not allowed to walk the stage.
As has been said, be nice and smart to us and we're happy to help you.
We also take kindly to offerings of food and warm drinks

I think it's normally Pete's, but someone else (Gavin) is running this year.....
Ah that one. Very slippery in there. Leaves on top of slimy gravel. Did you have a good day?Very good thanks. The stages were well set up so we didn't have to keep stopping and I think the key safety messages have got through to most spectators. We saw a few big groups but I think the weather put some off.
I think I know where you were. Open chicane with opportunity for cutting?
Just need to clean the car now!

We didn't see any spectators all day, nor dog walkers nor runners that we often see from the camp.I think I know where you were. Open chicane with opportunity for cutting?

We were Jct13 on SS3/4 aka SS27/28 if you know where that is - pallets and cones which didn't last long.....
Sad news, but not entirely unexpected. The entries hadn't been coming in - and who knows why? The event changed a few years ago at the behest of the competitors to cut down on road mileage, and still they don't support it. This changed the feel of the event into basically a WRC-type Tour of Kielder.
Having spectated on all of the events, my favourite were the early ones; that ran from Sunday - Tuesday; it actually felt like an old RAC. Waking up Monday morning in Ae forest, having breakfast, then watching the first run before dawn fully broke. Another run through Ae round lunchtime before the leisurely drive through the scenic Borders to Kershope. Then seeing a car stop virtually in front of me in the darkness with alternator trouble; it was Hannu...trying to get it going again.
Tuesday morning at 6-ish and a re-run of Kershope, then the trek along the B6318, and across to Harwood forest, and the final stage - and a win for Stig!
A magical event!! And who can forget 2010 when there was the 'white out'? And when Colin re-organised the Monday ad-hoc on Sunday night after the eastern stages were impassible.
One hopes that it will return in 2017, but the sport is in real trouble in the UK; events getting pulled, forests being made unavailable, etc not sure the MSA are showing enough leadership.
I personally feel that a similar historic circuit racing event would have grown in stature more quickly (just look at the Goddwood Revival) . Rallying is the poor relation, and really struggles to get any commercial sponsors - even our WRC round requires hand outs from the Welsh because nobody will sponsor it.

Citroen won't be competing in next years WRC but will dedicate its resources towards the 2017 car which they will compete with in the 2017 season.
