The new Nissan LMP1 has been spotted testing, radical design compared to the other manufacturers, it is front engined!, and is it seriously ugly. Hopefully the old saying of if it looks fast it will be fast is proved wrong in this case as it looks like a pile of poo.

So what if it's ugly? I dont understand the amount of hate Nissan's LMP programs get. Both this and the Deltawing have been serious attempts to think outside the box and deliver novel new packaging solutions in a usually quite stale technical war (well, it was until hybrids came along). Yet all they seem to do is attract scorn, and people pleased with their lack of success. I'm a member of a Facebook group called Mulsanne's Corner, and I see quite a lot of nasty comments about the Nissan stuff on there

Looks interesting, I mean... they did 3 wheels so front engined is no more insane. Hopefully it works for them.

I would read the 'I may not go again' thread or whatever its called. There is a serious aversion to change or anything different in sportscars, I fear.

None of the LMP1's are exactly lookers...... its not that we hate them, someone just remarking on their looks that's all. The more cars the better.

If not for the billboard dorsal fin the Audi would be a fairly decent looker IMHO. The new revision of the Porsche 919 is also not too bad but last years was a bit awkward.

the flat fronted headlights don't do any favours either, guess its part of the regs along with the fin.

Why?

Nissan have already announced the GTR-LM will be front engined, they're going to Le Mans this year so they're gona need to be testing from now to have any hope of being competitive...
