A feed for all World RX related chat... Latest news is that Marklund will be driving for Mattias Ekstrom's team EKS in an Audi which is an interesting move. Here was the highlights from last year's championship: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oE1SWfbYxqQ

I would try Lydden or Mettet first.

There isnt much else other than the Supercars, but they are great.

AS a long term rallycross fan, I was delighted with all this, but am getting a bit dubious now, they are running before they can walk. Tracks with jumps are awful, too tight too much ramming.

And the classes that have originally fed the series are being pushed aside slowly for classes that the investors are pushing, leaving national series very low on numbers. Our championship in Britain for example ia s shwdow of its former self, all the top guys have little interest adn drive in Europe.

That isn't entirely accurate. As a result of the new World Championship, there are national championships springing up all over the place - for example, Turkey, Italy and Argentina are starting their own national rallycross championships in 2015 and there's talk about one starting up in Australia in the near future. So, in many ways the World Rallycross Championship is helping stimulate growth at grassroots level in many other countries

I should be going to the round in Sweden as I will be in the country for other things.

I was in the country last year when it was on but didn't have a clue till I read the report of it

in Motorsport News.

Won't make that mistake again !

WRC is only stimulating one thing.

Monster energy and the people promoting it as theya re charging insane hosting rights, its why the series even went to Argentina, they paid more, Turkey, they paid more, Canada, they paid more.

Than Holland, Poland, Hungary, Czech Republic who had establshed dates, tracks, fans and series and who would ahve had to give all their money up front to a brand new championship and take the risk of a big crowd coming in.

Do the math or do what WRC did and sell to the highest bidder in places that have no RX history or fanbase.

Sells a lot of diabetes though huh

Not sure I agree with this. By introducing new tracks and new countries to the World RX calendar, it has stimulated national rallycross championships in countries outside of Europe for the first time and helped open up the broadcast to dozens of new territories. There are some very good rallycross tracks in the likes of Hungary and Poland but as an FIA World Championship, World RX has had to step up to the mark and some of these older circuits aren't of high enough standard in terms of facilities, ability to hold bigger crowds etc. Latest World RX TV stats that came out this week look impressive and seems like there's big growth at the moment: http://www.fiaworldrallycross.com/article/8665/lat...

The ONLY reason this sort of figures are even around is because IMG are the first people to ever do anything about promoting rallycriss on any level.

There was no real data nefore this, so this is based on the first year! lol

They for me are jumping before they can walk thats all, get the already settled places pumping first before going to places just because they pay more!

IMO the best motorsport ever.

When my dad used to go and watch it was all the group B which unfortunately I wasn't born to see but make up for that with race retro etc..

Now I go to the 2 British rounds at lydden and camp out at the World round at lydden however this year they allocated each European round classes at different track.

Lydden has only the touring cars for ERC instead of the whole lot like last year but many European drivers add themselves onto the world list for one or two rounds a year at the best tracks such as lydden or mettet.

Hope they have some decent support categories as the fwd guys are absent, and the rwd class is pants. Probably be buggies as O Donovan loves them

At last something decent on Top Gear the coverage (although limited ) of Rallycross , I used to love the sport and this rekindled my interest such a shame that the TV production Co's cant see any money in it or am looking in the wrong places for reports - anybody know ?

Am I right in thinking that some of cars racing with May were Diesel powered ? I noticed a couple of them with puffs of black smoke as the revs increased just before the off.

Good to see Top Gear giving Rallycross some more coverage
No diesels these are 600 bhp supercars (hence the black smoke).

Its on MotorsTV (or at least the re-runs of last years WRX series are).
