Has anyone else noticed that the livestream seems to be around 30s behind the live-timing ? Commentators keep referring to laptimes that are a lap behind the timing screen frown

I believe this is common practice to enable the feed to be cut should there be a serious life threatening incident. Its the same with most live motorsport events.

Must have been the lag, one second he's on the straight then when the picture comes back...wall...bugger.

I see Alonso averaged 231mph, what's the actual highest top speed so far?

Interesting piece on the driver's radio earpieces - they are provided by Indycar and incorporate accellerometers which connect to the car's datalogger. Data from them can be used to determine the G forces on a driver's head during a crash, helping early diagnosis of concussion.

We've had intermittent downpours in Indy today. Typical Indiana weather, pissing down one minute, bright sunshine the next. Forecast is the same for the weekend. Good to see Jay Howard back and looking reasonably competitive.

Must give a shout out to Team Harding, I've known Mike for a few years and he has a quick and racy driver in Gabby. Hope they do well. Go 88. If you want your drive tarmacked and you live over here Mike's your man. biggrin

Four out of the top 5 today are ex/current F1 drivers - Seb Bourdais was fastest at 233.116mph, and takes home a $10K prize for being fastest on Fast Friday

Bourdais suffered a pretty shocking accident today (Saturday), I read he has a badly broken pelvis, so won't race next Sunday. Indy is a cruel place.

Hard to watch...

Alonso is going to do the Indy 500.
Am I right in thinking 4 Andretti cars all broke on Sunday? Fernando must have had deja vu
Doh!
