Absolute cracker of a race.

Spa & Le Mans are going to be epic. Can't wait.

Fantastic race. I'd intended to have it on in the background whilst I did jobs around the house (like loading the dishwasher, doing the laundry, etc), and ended up glued to the telly for 6 hours and got no jobs done.

That is exactly what I was going to do. Watched the first hour or so & thought 'stuff it' this is too good to miss.

As for the Chinese GP..... Who cares after the WEC?

Loved it.

Although my interest did wane a bit after around 3 hours or so, it came back for a very tense last hour or so! Brilliant racing!

Watched the first couple of hours, set it to record while I watched the F1, watched the rest on delay after the F1.

WEC wins hands down for the racing. The Porsche and Audi going at each other earlier on, the end of the race within a few seconds of each other, great stuff. The commentators had it right, its not endurance races, its 6 hours of sprint races one after the other.

The Audi penalty was right IMO, by going round the outside he overtook the other class car and put a gap between him and the car he was racing. Why did it take that long for the penalty to come out though?

Just back from the race, superb, absolutely superb.

The whole 6 hours, throughout the grid everyone was going at it hammer and tongs.

F1 is simply not the pinnacle of motorsport anymore, it's quicker in the absolute sense, but that's it.

Back after a fantastic day at Silverstone. The whole weekend has been a areal treat if you enjoy good racing.

Shame about the no.17 919, as that thing looked mighty with Webber behind the wheel.

Unbelievable racing between Fassler & Jani! To sustain that battle for such a long period was something else to watch.

In end the end, given how close the race finished, its clear that stint from Lotterer ended up winning it for Audi.

Things are definitely looking good for Le Mans and the WEC year as a whole, and the Nissan still to come!

Had a great day there today and enjoyed watching the last hour or so on a recording. Such an excellent race!

The Corvette and Astons made my chest flutter with their sound, absolutely brilliant.
The 919's looked untouchable coming out of Woodcote, most impressive compared to anything else.

What a superb weekend. We spent all day yesterday doing stuff and knew in advance we'd only get the start of the race before having to head back home to Cornwall today. That means we left as Webber was leaving the rest of the field for dust. To learn he and the rest of the team didn't win was something of a shock. In fact the family had a bet that the toyota or the other porsche would come through, not the silent wafting of the e-tron which didn't look that fast....But then the size of the audi media area suggests that they don't piss around at his kind of thing.....

I did hear some grumblings from a spectator about the size of the grid, and I suppose without the nissan's it might be considered a bit light? I'm not sure as it's my first visit and I was more than happy with what I was watching.

Anyway, better than F1, better than the BTCC, I'll be going back next year and watching the season with interest. It was superb value for money, the kids did go karting, zorbing and got a good eyefull during the ELMS pit walkabout, which we completely caught by chance for nowt. And I could have done untold things to the oily bits of the F3 cars which were waiting to go trackside yesterday, but I just stuck my camera down some areas you don't tend to get a look at most days.

Good times.

Just back after a freezing weekend of camping in a £10 Halfords tent (and the passenger seat of the Jag for night 2 when I thought I was going to die of hypothermia!!)

Fantastic race, fantastic circuit and facilities, lovely to be able to go into any grandstand biggrin. My only gripe is that 6 hours isn't long enough! It got to the end and I found myself thinking "...at Le Mans we'd have 18 more hours to look forward to!!"

WEC knows how to put on a show.

Why have I just seen a tweet from Nismo talking about a post race 1-2-3? Strakka are now 3rd, apparently. Googling has failed to yield the answers I seek!

Edit - Ok, so apparently the Patron ESM No. 30 car has been excluded from the results, but I haven't yet found out why. Nothing on the FIA WEC twitter feed either.

Edit 2 - Found - http://sportscar365.com/lemans/wec/no-30-patron-es... And bah.

The gap is closing rather fast though. Think the fastest lap today was around 3s slower than the fastest lap set in the f1 grand prix last year set by Hamilton, but it still beat a few of the f1 back markers.

Thats in a car that weighs a few hundred kilograms more, is build to last for 24 hours+ of racing and is on tyres that can do up to 2 hour stints at a time.

Decided to go to Le Mans this year, and todays WEC race was the first that i've seen fully so by the looks of it I've made a good decision!

Great day at Silverstone today, although it was strangely much quieter than last year, spectator-wise. Perhaps Easter holidays have something to do with that, it certainly shouldn't be on account of the lack of quality racing.

The Webber 919 going out early on was a disappointment though as it appeared to have the best chance of keeping the Audis honest.

Bloody windy too!

Shame the mad Nismo LMP1 cars weren't running, but to their credit they has a couple of show cars there that anyone was welcome to poke, prod and clamber into and they had a rep there who was happy to chat about the cars, the team and their goals. Kudos.

What a race...

Did feel the Audi stop and go was harsh, considering they had all be at it all day long - but I suppose you need to draw the line somewhere - they did get an advantage. People in and out of the Stewards office all day - noone has any idea how many warnings they had.

Saying that, I did have a chuckle at John Hindhaugh being a bit of an Audi fanboy (I thought he was a porker man anyway? wink) and getting wound up about it considering how excited he got (and rightly so) at the second best overtake of all time at Le Mans a few years ago:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9hAGjSGmNJk

For reference, the best overtake of all time is this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4TAwbDBmzOg (at 1min and again at 3:20)

2 months till the big one - can't wait. Who needs F1?

How come the Toyota's are off the pace? Wanted to see them do well at Le Mans knock audi off the top..

14 seconds behind the winner after 6 hours isn't too bad, the #2 Toyota had to pit for a new nose. Audi and Porsche do seem to have the edge at the moment though.

Yeah, it's a shame that in terms of pure speed the Audi still seems to be a step above the Porsche and Toyota, none of which could get within 1.2s of the fastest laps from either of the Audis.

I would've hoped that the #17 Porsche might've mounted the most serious challenge though as even in its relatively short time on track it came closest to matching the Audi in terms of pace, being 0.2s quicker than any of the other three.

Still, it's endurance racing though and we have to be happy that at the end of 6 hours racing there was still only seconds between the top three, even if it took a fairly soft penalty near the death to close the gap right up.

Caught the last hour of the race (as thats all I could find on eurosport) looked a great race.

Is there a channel that shows the whole 6 hours? Will going up to silverstone next year for sure!
